Image Editing Programs - Recommendations?

Looking for a simple imaging editing program. Currently using "paint" which is terrible. For example I can editing image to correct dimensions however when saved the file size is too large. When I reduce size of file then the dimensions change.

Any recommendations will be appreciated.

I use Photoshop for all my image editing, but even when I save out for web I use this site to optimize more http://imagecompressor.com.

That might be an option if you can save out at the correct dimensions then chuck it on imagecompressor

Gimp is free ware and just as powerful as Photoshop. Works in pretty much the same way. Free to download & Use. Loads of tutorials online and in Youtube.

I also use Banner Maker Pro and it gets the job done. A great program with many easy to use features.

If you want simple crop and resize, you can use webresizer, and then tinypng to compress the images without the loss in quality. Gimp is great for more elaborate editing, but it takes some time to perfect your skills.

+1 for gimp. I used to use photoshop until they removed use for anyone outside our creative department. GIMP was what it was replaced with. Agree that it takes a bit of time to get used to it but once you do it's bloody good for something that's free.

I use GIMP too but I plan to switch to Photoshop because GIMP is a bit annoying and a bit limited. After many years, I've had enough.

I use Inkscape for really simple things such as saving the file in a different format, as working with vector graphics is among the few things in life I can not do. So I usually just hire someone to do it.

Just use GIMP. It's powerful enough, it's free, and could last you a long time without a need to switch to something else.

I prefer designers to do the dirty work.

I tried to DL Paint.NET and that's a Nightmare. Looks like microsoft needs way too much info for the trial version.

At least the mustache hides the smile or frown, and the hat will hide the eye movements more, so it will make it more difficult to catch the "tells".

If you are looking for a really good in browser editor I suggest using pixlr.

It's what im currently using besides photoshop

I use Photoshop for all my image editing, know its not free and might take some time to learn. But to me its worth the penny and does everything i need it to do, havnt found that in any free software. Always good to use some kind of image minimizer after saving for web, like I saw someone also wrote earlier. I use imageoptim, and find it very good.
