Our experience show, that the content is very relevant for more traffic and high quality visitors.
In example, if you have allways the latest news and write them in a interessing style, visitors will come back to your site and bookmark it.
You should also consider having unique content with unique pictures and video's. Some small social work with good post can help too.

Yeah, I totally agree. We have worked very hard on producing good content, and we've seen some satisfying results.

I wouldn't spend money on SEO unless it's to pay for services from a quality, well-known seo company. However, this will cost you A LOT of money (in the thousands), and is better done once you have a popular site already and need that extra kick to move it right to the top.
My advice is to keep activity on your site consistent (you certainly don't need to post 10 articles a day), promote using social media and be patient. It does take time, but it will build up.

If anyone really new the best answer it's unlikely it would be appearing here, social media content and niche markets are the answer and a whole lot of patience we are in a deep hole at the moment but we will come back

You need to do some seo related to your website with proper keywords. and generate some link and some paid links also.

Please try to ignore the people suggesting paid links - the last thing you want is a Google penalty.
Focus on the user. Why would people go to your site? Look at creating a site that visitors would want to use rather than trying to create a site that Google likes.
