    Smile Instagram and lottery

Hello people! I have a simple question for all of you... I've got a small prize from an online lottery and I'm afraid to post about it on Instagram. I think that someone will report about my money to government or something and I will need to pay taxes... I guess it works not like that, right?)

If the lottery was legal, then surely all taxes must be paid.

where are you from? Take a picture without your face and no one can report you lol, but still better pay taxes to avoid problems in future.

Congrats if you won the lottery.
Remember that it's kind of free money and much more than the initial ticket price.

Pay the tax and stay out of trouble. You will still end up with much more money than you had before and after buying the ticket

If I won the lotto I wouldn't be posting it on instagram or tell anyone for that matter, more for fear that I will gain some new friends I didn't have before.

I don't think so. It is just income tax, when you do your taxes. It's up to you whether you want to try to hide it.

Maybe I'm just cynical but am I the only person who thinks that this is weird? Most people know they have to pay taxes or not.. I hear the new big scam right now is to post lotto tickets offering followers $1,000 then using those followers for nefarious things.

If you read the first post in the thread, the question had zero to do with Instagram policy.

    Hi Kinandarad,
Firstly, congratulations on winning a large enough lottery prize to worry about the taxes associated with your win!
Secondly, you need to check with your country about the laws pertaining to tax on winning a lottery. Did you win the amount in your own country or via an internet lottery ticketing site in another country? Your countries tax laws will differ in this respect.
Thirdly, (personal opinion) I would not be announcing my win to all and sundry as this is a sure way to be hounded by fortune seekers and a whole host of other people needing money for one thing or another.
    Once again congrats

    Wow congratulations!
How big is the tax you'd need to pay in percentage? Why do you have to post it on Instagram?

I think your conscience will bother you for not paying that tax whether you post that picture on Instagram or not, since you're already showing some kind of restlessness On the other hand, since your prize is small as you said, I don't see why would it cause any jealousy or malice in someone, to report you.

First of all congratulation, I would love to say please don't share this kind of moments in Instagram or Facebook or Twitter or any other social media websites. This may put you in trouble.

Congrats on your winning on the lottery. I just have one question is that a state lottery? If is a state lottery then better ask the authorities if your winnings is tax free or not. Every country has it's own policy regarding wins on a lottery.

I figure that if the lottery was an official one, everybody already knows about your winning, and probably taxes should be deducted from the winning before you get it. Authorities are not likely to check social nets to impose some additional taxes...
