Default Looking to attract millennials? Try Kenya.

According to a survey conducted by GeoPoll throughout six African countries (Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya), 76% of Kenyans between the ages of 17 and 35 have gambled, followed by Uganda at 57%. Ghana had the lowest rate at 42%.

    From the report:

The frequency of gambling is highest among Kenyans compared to their fellow Africans. Whilst the rest bet mostly once a month, a majority of Kenyans bet once a week. As seen in the graph below, sports betting is the most preferred. The fixtures for football matches especially the English premier league are over the weekends.

Yeah- try Kenya - go on. Try it.

The average monthly wage in Kenya is 6,498 shillings (approx $76).
Plenty of people, lots of interest, but no money and very little financial infrastructure.

I have a friend who does biz with African sportsbooks (not affiliate). He says the biz is good and numbers are growing incredibly.

https://www.gpwa.org/forum/uganda-ga...ty-231586.html I think this article explains it. If it works even there with so low HDP per capita, it will be really bloody money.

We've get lots of traffic from Kenya - so trialed it.

Here is a snapshot of the experience :

We had over 100 Kenyan signups at a local Kenyan based bookie that supports MPESA - which is their mobile payments system - and the most popular way to pay for online services. There are plenty of bets, but it's all EXTREMELY low value action with bets of 30, 50, or 100 KES (Kenya Shillings) where 1 shilling is worth about 1 cent.

The betting style is naive at best - lots of 5-team / 10-team accumulators - trying to "score big" on a small stake. We also have a contact me form on site - and have had numerous contacts with Kenyan players who want to be emailed lists of "sure thing" winners on a regular basis.

If I could sum this market up it would be low value / low skill ... I find it hard to believe anyone thinks that THIS biz is good.
We currently have around 2000 KES in an account there and they only payment method seems to be MPESA (useless to us).

I'm trying to find a good local charity to send it to.

Yes Progger - we tried it - as we were/are are getting a large number of African visitors via mobile internet ...
And it made sense to TRY and monitise it with a local bookmaker ...

Who knows, maybe the fact that they were on the internet was a way to self-selecting "rich" Kenyan players (relatively speaking).
Until you try it - you can't be sure - can you?

Well ... now - I am pretty sure - it's a very low value market - and thought I'd share it.

If there is ANYONE out there actually making $100 a month or more from Kenya (or Nigeria) ...
Then I'd love to hear from you in this thread - please share your secrets - I'm keen to learn ...

(But I don't think that we will hear from anyone).

I have traffic from these countries and it's not even above $40 so I'm pretty sure your estimations are more then correct about this market, also very low volumes, for casino players ! I dont know about sports etc..

    Can you share which bookie?

I have signed up/contacted many programs and they never reply.

    Certainly Pinkytoe.

The bookmaker is Eazibet.co.ke ... they seem to be locally based, fully licensed etc.
But it's a long slog to low totals.

Found this to be a very interesting article and found in particularly interesting the facts around mobile usage for gambling in Kenya but is is nice to know. I agree however that this is a "low value and low skill" market. Efforts would be better focused on higher returning markets where the people can actually afford the risks.

Most programs don't (shouldn't) put a negative in for a jackpot win.
