I never tried getting indexed in DMOZ. But do you think it is worth it? Maybe in the past but I doubt if it is still worth anything.

I think if you can get in it's definitely probably still worth it, but I gave up trying with things like that, seems like too much effort to me. Keep us updated on progress gillies.
I doubt it's worth it. Lots of low quality directories scrape dmoz so you just setting yourself up for penguin.
I know one guy who tried for almost 3 years to get in, it's not worth it. there was a time when search engines used DMOZ as an index but now its just a normal directory which no one uses. There are also volunteer editors which are competitors of the other sites which makes them very biased, I think they just sit and decline sites.
My UK lottery sites: Health Lottery Results | Thunderball Results | Euromillions Results | Lotto Raffle Numbers | Irish Lottery Results
My other/new sites: Bingo Bouncer | Online Bingo Reviews | No Deposit Bingo
I've tried to get some of my sites listed so many times with no success. I'm not even sure if there's any real benefit in getting listed there to be honest.
yes of course Dmoz is still important Its better also dmoz is Old & Trustworthy website
THanks
I have applied, but no idea what will go on from here. Someone holding the monopoly on here of gambling sites.

Yep, DMOZ is still a pretty decent free link to have. Their inclusion process is hard to figure out though. Seems severely in-congruent in it's application acceptances.

One of my sites is in the DMOZ.
How to get in? Keep (respectfully, so not bombarding them) submitting your site a few times per month, in the correct category. If they think your site should be part of their directory, it will be included. Make sure your site is up to date. Make sure you submit it exactly the way you think will be best and most beneficial for you (regarding to title, description http:// or http:www// etc.
It is important to submit it to the right category.
As far as benefits go? I have not seen any. The only traffic that comes from it, is more than likely from other webmasters who check out the site. I have not seen any ranking benefits from it as far as I can notice it.
You could also apply to be a editor. Once approved, you may have a chance to add your own site. Although, this should not be your first intention as to why you would become an editor. They see through this type of thing you see, and is 'frowned upon'..
The way I did it and became successful was I've just submitted my site a good few times in the correct category, until I noticed it was actually taken in. But, again, the benefits are not all that great. My site is an online casino review site. Your site should not have any issue being added. So best of luck.
Hope this helps.
Thank you!

Dmoz listing is valuable for your website because it is trustful website in search engines but in the other hand it takes too much time for Approval. If your site fulfill all the requirements set by Dmoz then your site may get listed in Dmoz almost within 6 to 8 months.
Of course a lot of people may state how important it is to get into dmoz, but most of those thoughts are based on very VERY old information and seo ideas.
Also, most that state how important dmoz is, do not understand how difficult getting a gambling portal in is.
A link in dmoz is only a directory link, which carries MUCH less weight then a link on a well respected or high traffic site in the same NICHE as the site listed.

The DMOZ forums are full of moderators who get VERY angry when people submit their site multiple times. The most quoted thing in the DMOZ forums is the rule to "submit your site ONE time to the correct category" These mods (which are volunteer editors themselves) then go on to explain how they will often disallow a site who submits itself many multiple times.
I wouldn't take this quoted advice given what I have read on the DMOZ forums. With that said, our site is not DMOZ listed, though we only submitted a couple months ago.
You may be right... However, it is how I got my site in.
And, again, it is not all that amazing. Not much comes from it. No change in rankings, no more traffic. So, since you have a 'no' already, submitting a few times more might get you yes. It is not always the same editor that will see your site submitted I guess.
But, again, I don't know. I just said how I did it, and my site is listed there for quite some time now.
Thanks,
Thank you!
I have been an editor at dmoz for a number of years, so I have a decent understanding about how it works. You can see my profile on dmoz here: www.dmoz.org/public/profile?editor=michaelcorfman
Some things to understand:
How easy it is to be promptly listed in a dmoz category (if your site is appropriate for listing) depends largely on the extent to which one or more dmoz editors monitor the category to which your site has been submitted.
There are generally not enough editors to handle all of the submissions made, so the wait can be indefinite when an area is under-served by editors.
The gambling area has special rules, and it is generally harder to become an editor in an area like gambling where frequently an applicant to be an editor may be interested for self-serving reasons. So I view the gambling area is under-served. Even as a long-term editor, I don't have editing authority in the areas where gaming portal sites are listed. Personally, I opted to edit in other areas with the idea that I might eventually go back and apply to work in areas where portal sites are listed, although I have not done that yet.
Affiliate sites are generally treated as sites that are not appropriate to be listed unless it is viewed that the content is of real quality.
Editors apply to edit specific categories. It is generally pretty easy to apply for and be accepted as an editor for a small geographic region if you know the area. It can be very hard to be accepted into a category subject to abuse such as a gambling category, and being accepted as an editor in categories that are subject to editor abuse is likely to result in your editing actions being reviewed, and overturned when they are deemed inappropriate.
What happens when a site is submitted multiple times depends on who handles the submission. Submission queues for editors are much like inboxes. I know how I generally react when someone emails me the same thing over and over. But not always. If I feel like I really should have taken care of the situation, I might feel guilty and make an extra effort to fairly handle matters. But generally the opposite will happen if I feel like I am being harassed.

Yes, Dmoz is still important but Dmoz required website which fulfill all Google guidelines.
Google published new guidelines for the reviewers it hires to provide quality ratings for websites that it uses to influence how pages are ranked in search results. You can see the GPWA post about it here: Google re-writes Quality Ratings Guidelines. The post includes a link to a complete copy of the guidelines.
In the new Google guidelines, reviewers look at websites from three perspectives: expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness (abbreviated E-A-T).
Within dmoz, editors include sites they view as worthy of inclusion within the dmoz directory. As a dmoz editor myself, I can say that many of the types of factors outlined in the new Google Quality Ratings Guidelines influence my decisions about whether a site is worth listing, but not because they are listed in Google's guidelines, but rather because many of the factors listed are natural factors for any human editor to consider in determining the quality of a site.

Forget Dmoz - we have 2014...
Long time ago I submitted a good quality website to Dmoz but never get listed.. Now I see a lot of rubbish websites listed there, so I guess is easier to get approved.
