Hi, and welcome to the GPWA! There are, of course, rules specific to each geo. I don’t know if you chose Australia automatically because you live there, but keep in mind that you can select other geos (nothing wrong with Australia), which could be more profitable depending on what you want to do.

Yes, Australia has specific restrictions under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (IGA) — mainly, it prohibits promoting online casinos to Australian residents unless the operator holds a local license. So if you're based in AU, it’s smart to look beyond your home market.
I agree with what @NoDepositCasinos said — you don’t have to limit yourself to Australia. A lot of affiliates I work with are seeing strong results in regions like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, and various parts of Africa. These geos are growing fast, and offer great testing ground.

Just because you live in Australia doesn't stop you from operating in other markets as well/instead.

Australia is a very profitable market, but keep in mind also that you most likely have to promote unregulated casinos there as there are pretty strict regulations.
