    Default Weren't Barcelona awesome!

After that fantastic display last night in the Nou Camp, surely Barcelona must be worth putting a lum on to win the Champions League at around even money.

And remember four of their best players weren't even available!

Evens does seem a bit short at this stage, but I guess there were a lot of people jumping on them after last night's performance. I can't see Lucio taking Messi out of the game over 2 legs like he did with Drogba to be honest. I see Barcelona prevailing from that semi

After watching Barca completly crush Arsenal one funny thing we noticed here in Barcelona was that even the Arsenal fans where quite calm about it.

What can they say after a display like that of Messi.

I can not see any team stand up to them now, but it will be very interesting to watch Barca- Inter, Zlatan vs Etoó even though I think Messi will steal all the light again!

seriously guys dont get carried away, yeah Messi had a great match and is definately class but only one game.

Mourinho's men wont allow him such luxaries that the crappy Arsenal midfield and defence did last night and Real Madrid are favourites to beat them at the weekend in my opinion.

Barcelona a great team yeah course they are and Messi a great player but it is just one result for a home team playing an away team clearly inferior with key players missing, hardly the greatest performance i have seen.

I reckon Inter will beat them and that Real Madrid will win the title.

And Patmcluk you know more than anyone else that this Barcelona team were very lucky last season to come up against a blind ref and a last second equaliser to beat Chelsea.

Just saying some perspective, thats all

Laugh out Loud at the Spurs man asking for perspective - when he calls the Arsenal midfield crappy ... How about having some sense of perspective yourself.

Even injury-hit as they are - the Arsenal are in the top 10 European club sides this season.

It was a very good Barcelona performance - well done Barca !

I fully expected my Arsenal friend to respond at some point and i am sure he will forgive me for ignoring his advice on perspective from an Arsenal fan.

And while Barcelona did play well last night this over hype of their performance baffles me, The Arsenal made them look good and if you think that your midfield was not crappy last night then i am surprised, i had you down as a realistic Arsenal fan.

Real Madrid won't allow that to happen and neither will Inter, Chelsea certainly would not have allowed it to happen and yeah i reckon the Tottenham midfield will have done a far better job than what Arsenal did last night.

Aresenal are better than what they showed last night, even i as a Spurs fan know that and for Arsenal fans to say that Barcelona were just too good as a means to get away from their own performance is nothing more than a convenient excuse.

All i can hope for is that Arsenal play that way against us in eight days time, do that and you will lose.

But you won't, you reserve poor performances against the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and Barcelona, that tells me that their is a self belief problem.

8 days to go my friend, are you feeling confident? I know i am.

    We will see.

Here's to Pompey taking Tottenham to the full 120 minutes to give Spurs some tired legs ... although I'd rather Spurs won the penalty shootout otherwise the final will be one-sided with Chelsea/Villa in the other semi.

    EDIT :
Does the semi-final go to a reply if required? Or is it a penalty shoot-out.

At least Spurs v Chelsea / Villa would be worth watching ...

And here's also to Arsenal getting 8 days off - and extensive time on the treatment table - and being able to field as strong a side as possible ...
Ideally no-one in the startin line-up with a squad number over 30 - except the nutty Dane striker Bendtner of course!

    Roll on

We were missing our spine last night: vP, Cesc, Song and Gallas. You can't hope to contain Barcelona in that state. It will even be tough against the smaller teams - as we'll prove in 8 days LOL.

And the following morning we meet up BP Loser buys the coffee?

anyway - getting back to the Champions League ...

I've just read that this is Olympique Lyonnais first semi-final appearance in the competition - wow - that didn't seem right given all that they've done in group stages is seasons past .... but it's true.

Could THEY be the surprise packet of the last four ?

Love these Arsenal love ins, my moment is just days away lads

It is Ironic that Lyon make the semi finals the first time that they are not currrent Champions of France, when they dominated the French League they always flattered to decieve, may be it is a case of expectations being lowered and pressure off.

Another little side note is that in the Champions League we have a semi final Bayern V Lyon that in fact has no champion

So there will be a team in the final that is not a Champion.

Messi was awesome in that match and I'm not using the word lightly. Totally awesome performance...

Prior to this game the BBC pundits were harping on about the possibility of Rooney being the best player in the world. Somehow, I think Messi's display will have put an end to that talk! If Rooney had had those Messi chances, how many would he have scored? I think he would have scored one if he was lucky, maybe two if he was on fire, but definitely not the four Messi got

The only way to stop Messi when he's on that form is to play dirty in the same way that most premiership clubs try to handle Fabregas. The difference is that Barcelona have the players to give Messi protection, but Arsenal lack those sort of players (although I think Song will get there)

Arsenal would have strolled past Inter, they would have slaughtered Munich, but against Barca with Messi in that sort of form? - not so easy...

Looking at the Premier League fixtures, it would be ironic if Arsenal beat Spurs, then Spurs go and beat Chelsea and Man U in their next two games, allowing the league to be taken at the last minute by the Gunners.

    Stranger things have happened...

You can't compare them - I doubt the BBC pundits watched much Barca this season - just read the rubbish about how they aren't as good as last year. They are - and Messi is in the form of his life - watched nearly every Barca game this season and his performance against Arsenal was not a one-off. At home, he does that week in week out. Unstoppable IMO.

You're so rooted in the past mate - always looking backwards - must be because Tottenham have only won the league in Black and white - before you were born.

Both Bayern Munich and Lyon could be crowned current domestic Champions BEFORE the final kicks off.

Would that suit your sensibilities ... if they were the new champions?

I don't give a flying monkeys if they are champions or not and in fact i love the idea that it is not just champions allowed in or we would not have a chance in hell of getting involved in champions league footy, so row your oars in buddy.

Just pointing out the irony of it thats all, though doubt Lyon will be Champions in France and would probably lay Bayern as well to be honest, neither team convinces me domestically.

But i take your point about not looking to the past, i am in fact looking forward to Spurs lifting the FA Cup, you know a trophy, something your outfit for all their pretty football have not done in 5 years or so.

And sensibilities from a Gooner, lol now thats funny
