    Default Neverfold.net

I have received this email to every one of my portals and needless to say when you visit his site - he has not placed a link on his home page. I just think it is a way to recruit new people to his forum. If so, he is going about it totally the wrong way. I have sent him numerous emails and he does not respond.

    Hello,

As I was surfing around msn , I discovered your website: http://www.jackpotcrazy.co.za I am trying to add as many informative websites as possible to my site. Which in turn will benefit my users as well as provide you with relevant traffic to your site. I have a website that just started but has 1,000 - 1,500 people on it per day who fit the same demographic as your site.

If you follow this link, xxhttp://www.neverfold.net you will see that I put your link on my homepage. Some website owners do not like when other sites link to them so I thought I might ask for your review.

Please get back to me when you have a chance, to let me know if the link I have placed suits your needs. Also if you would like a custom Title for it just send me a email and I will get it updated.

    Have a good week,

    Mark Jubenville

I have just received this email from him. I don't know whether he is playing dumb or if he is trying to show people his intention to put up a link if you link back to him, because his screenshot shows he has put up a link to me but it is not on the actual site. I am not too sure what i think of him....

    Hello,

The page is a bit busy I just took a screen shot of it for you you can see it here : xxhttp://www.neverfold.net/screensfG3g.jpg

Thanks for letting me add your site to my directory. Your site will be a great addition to the website and of great value to my users. Today I actually received an email from one of my users about your site, it was very positive which reinforces my initial thoughts about adding you.

I was wondering if my site would be of value to your viewers and if so would you be able to add it to you site as well? If you have an available spot on your home page that would be really great but anywhere you think my site would fit in would be fine. I've put my site information below for you to look over.Let me know either way if you could.

I got the same email twice in 4 hour intervals. When i went to his site, i actually saw my link where yours was suppose to be.

That's really weird and i think if you do not link back afterwards, maybe he removes the link.

    Strange!!!

I had a weird feeling about it, but emailed him indicating i liked his forum.

It does seem like its a generated forum in a way, like the fakes posts i dont know i just get that feeling.

maybe to build traffic, fast PR ect.. then sale off.

    my thoughts anyway..

Oh well lets see how long my link lasts.

I got the same, and when I follow the link I see GamesandCasino in first spot for links.

It would be interesting to have some people who do not own websites go there and find out what they see as top link...

I think I know what's going on here. I received an email identical to this one from another site "Jebet". I though it was not spam at first. I went to the site, and found no link back to my pages. As it turned out they hired an SEO "expert", to build links. they trusted them to not do anything malicious. I can understand how this could happen. I think that as long as it's not a trend there's a little room for benefit of the doubt.

It's one of those examples of how hiring the wrong SEO can really screw up your efforts.

I got a similar email in my spam folder - clicked the link: neverfold.net/?pg=Ao2Dr (link text just said .net) and noticed the correct "backlink" on his site.

I asked a few friends to visit and they don't see the same link.

Viewed from a proxy (different IP) I don't see the link.

I'm not sure how hes doing it, but it is pretty clever. My theory is that "?pg=Ao2Dr" page detects the IP of the first visitor and then triggers the server to always serve your link to that unique IP.

Good point. I just took the time to go through each of the posts and edited out 11 back links....LOL

By all means folks, when discussiong spammers etc, don't give them a valid link back.

BUT, if it's your own sites, or that of a friends or other members, there is no reason to mask the link.

I also received the same emails. In fact, when I searched for this guy on google, your posts on here allowed me to find this site. When I looked on his site, my website, Virtual Felt, was listed right there on the links on the left as well. I went ahead and threw his site up on mine. I then sent him an email informing him and giving some thanks for throwin' me up on his site, and his response was something along the lines of...

Thanks for adding my site. Please send me an email with the name of your site so I can put a link up on my site.

????? I might be new to this, but come on, I do have some sort of clue!

I immediately deleted all his links, emails, etc. so that is why I do not have the actual email. I didn't know what this guy was up to, so I wasn't taking any chances. What a clown.

P.S. Yes, I joined his forum...sad, so sad.

I got an e-mail from this person also. The link to the site included a referral code. So it seems clear the referral code is used to identify what webmaster is looking at the site, and the sites to display on the home page of neverfold is determined on that basis. It is possible that is also combined with cookies to be able to display the same links on subsequent visits even without the referral code.

Anyway, it was clear it was pure trickery. I took the action of additing the website to our list of known websites and added that the owner was a spammer for future reference.

Phew! These spammers or what ever you want to call them are always finding dishonest ways to keep ahead. It is getting to the point that I am now starting to delete all link requests unless it is from someone I recognize or from GPWA forum members etc.
its a real shame because there are some honest link requests out there who land up losing out due to the thieves...and that is the plain and simple word for people like neverfold - just a thief!!
