Default New member question - please help

    Hi Folks,

sorry if this is the wrong section to post these somewhat technical issues....

for some strange reason my signature is constantly being changed(?!?!) anyone had a similar issue and found a remedy? also wanted to ask why the Private Messages i send out dont have any 'sent' confirmation - is that normal? they also dont appear in my "sent emails" section of my account....

    all help will be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi Sol,

I had the same issues with the sent items when I started here, there's a tick box below the message which you need to select if you want to save them otherwise they wont show.

    Cheers

Well besides the fact that I saw at least a few of your posts moved to the spam folder, I don't recall what the minimum term is for signatures, but we have been discussing raising the minimum post requirement before sig links show.

Taking extra time to be really creative and FORCING a sig to show shows that it appears that it is more important that you get a link then actually contributing to the community....

Trust me on this, becoming an active member among the regular members here is waaaaay more important than a link in a sig with a handful of posts....

    i totally agree!!

it was not clear in any way that a new user or a non sponsor cant have links in his signature... if this is not allowed i will erase it right away. I've tried an elimination process, i thought i will space out the links and see if the signature stands - it did, so i guess a bot is erasing links - meaning it is not allowed...
I dont see how i have dome anything wrong! the GPWA team contacted me about a promotional natured post which i understood is not allowed for non sponsors and we are now looking in to the sponsoring options....

I am here to learn and develop new connections, isn't that what a forum is for?

If i'm doing anything wrong i apologies.

    Cheers

You can also select to always save a sent copy in your options in the sidebar of your profile set up area.

Your fine, Rick is just doing his job and he is correct in the fact that some people come here just for the link. Networking is great and yes thats what this place is for ( one of many reasons why gpwa is here ) however it must be clear that people only wishing to advertise and not give anything back are not welcomed. I see however you do have some contributions to my inbox lol

Yeah, i felt he was a little harsh especially considering this thread is titled the way it is and the total irrelevance of other posts being send to the spam folder... i am a totally new member and did not see these no no's anywhere...

anyway it was more of a misunderstanding than anything else.

    both issues solved.

    thanks all for the help

Trust me, I was NOT being harsh....

Also, compared to the actual time frame I had written the response, at that time you actually had more posts that had been moved to the spam area I based my response to you on the FACTS as they were at the time of the posting.

Certainly if you continue to contribute to the community as you have the past few days there will likely not be any further problems....

Also, responses to questions such as yours are usually answered in such a way as to make sure others also understand sig rules, link rules etc...

    OK.

Just a suggestion if i may?
In order to prevent new users from making the same mistakes and ask the same questions as I did, I think it would make sense to have all these Do and Do Not's written up nicely and incorporate them as part of the registration process.

    Cheers

    Hi Sunny,

Go back to "The Chatter Box" home page and look for the "new thread" button on the top left corner, then you can open your own post, introduce yourself and ask what ever questions you have for the forum members.

    hope this helped.

    Cheers
