Default Online poker sees decline in traffic

PokerScout.com is reporting that over the past week, online poker traffic has dropped 1.7 percent, with seven of the top 10 sites reporting declines.

Does this have anything to do with the UIGEA deadline on June 1? Maybe, or maybe not. A commenter at Gambling911 noted that with the WSOP beginning in Las Vegas, a lot of online players have made the trip to win cash in person.

    Gambling911 has a short write-up:

of course it's because of the WSOP! The UIGEA is not going to have any affect on poker players in my opinion. I hope I'm right..

    Default Traffic

What about the recent Memorial Day weekend? Maybe some people were involved in other activities.

I will be interested to see if poker traffic actually increases after the WSOP events.

Default Online poker sees decline in traffic

1.7% is a pretty small percentage change. The WSOP and the holiday weekend in the US would account for it.

I would say the WSOP has a lot to do with the decline in traffic.

Gambling911 is a joke. Anyone that takes that rag serious needs to see a doctor. It's well known in the industry of how weak the site is, no one takes them seriously so to see links here to them is pretty funny.

Of course, with the timing; it's the Holiday weekend. Expendable cash was blown over the weekend, player attendance will rebound. Coupled with the WSOP. , I agree with Anthony, it will be interesting to see the flux of Poker Players after the WSOP completes.
My guess is a rebound back stronger than before.

I think the traffic is always going to fluctuate, from time to time, along with the rest of the economy. Its not really the volume of traffic that is important but the quality of it. What we are seeing with the traffic we push is longer term players and that's what the casinos want. So . . . they end up with 10 spending 100 a week than 100 spending 5 type of equation.

Fluctuations will always happen and are measurable in any window of time, from one week to one year to a decade. it can all be graphed out and co-related to other data to determine cause and effect. I think this 1.7 % is neither here nor there really, no biggie
