    Default Perfect Privacy or Not?

From an SEO standpoint, does it make a differenece if you use perfect privacy or not? I am always cheap and didnt wanted to pay the extra few dollars and didn't care if my info showed up in who is. Just curious what the thoughts are if this has an effect on rankings.

i use domains by proxy. I dont do it for seo reasons, I dont want people from my day job knowing my business. But as far as SEO is concerned I would pass.

Privacy is only related with you and it is up-to you preferred to be contacted or not... That is all! Feel free to do anything you want.

If you sell links from your sites it is better to keep privacy because your competitors can play you a mean trick. But in this case you should provide some other abilities to contact you, for example contact form on your site for those who are interested in your service.

What is "No Difference" exactly mate ? Do you say that no need to secure the privacy or does not differ ?

I actually found out that google take much more seriously sites that giving all their info, address etc and even add all those to google as business location, and saw better results for such sites....obviously thought its all depends on how much you want to hide your info .
but I actually belief it helps to give all your info, especially if you're building a big, brandable site

It is completely to the wish of the individual to go in for a public or private registration. People who do not want their personal information like contact details, e-mail information to be displayed to the public will prefer for a private registration. This is to avoid spammers from accessing the personal information to annoy the domain owner with unwanted emails, calls etc. This will not affect the SEO rankings.Whoever does a whois search by using lookup tools will be able to view only a third party(mostly the host provider) details hence even if they have to contact the domain owner they will be filtered by the third party. This is just to protect the domain owner...if you think you can handle such unwanted advertisements, scams, spamming you can very well opt for a public registration.

A whois does NOT provide the domain host's information.

Whois is designed to provide contact details for the domain's owner and technical contacts only.

I do not think whois has anything at all to do with seo.

I always take the privacy option when launching a site where i don't necessarily want people to contact ME right away.
But always make sure to have an easy to find contact page, never know what can come up
