Default Please somebody help me with my site

I would be very grateful if someone could help me with some advice or an opinion about my site www.freepokern.com.
Someone told me that Google would see my site duplicate like: www.freepokern.com and freepokern.com because the settings in htacces are wrong.
If someone has faced this problem or can tell me if i should resolve this problem I would be very grateful.
    Have a nice day.

Add this to your .htaccess file.

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^freepokern.com
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.freepokern.com/$1 [R=301,L]
This should redirect the http://freepokern.com to http://www.freepokern.com
    Exit stage left

    Hi,

You need to create/update your .htaccess file in the root folder to look like this:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^freepokern\.com$
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.
    freepokern.com/$1 [R=301,L]

This will redirect all your freepokern.com traffic to www (dot) freepokern (dot)com and you will not have any problems with duplicate content.

If you are not a competant coder then you shouldn't really be asking what you need to do. People can help you so far, but there comes a point where you have to work some of it out yourself.

If you cant do it, find a coder that can. I use rentacoder all the time and you can get help for less than $100.

Often, your website hosting company will do these fixes for free or at least talk you through the process so you can do it yourself.

Alternately, there are several members here who are capable and usually willing to talk you through things like this.

Look in the root folder of your website. Do you have a .htaccess file listed there? If so edit it and add the couple of lines I put in my previous post.

If you don't have a .htaccess file, create one and add the code.

If you don't know how to do either, then ask your hosts to do this for you or do as Brean suggests.

Like Webzcas suggests, if you are totally stuck, check with the support dept of your host.

If gets you no where, let us know here and we will help you figure this out.

Upload it as is to your server then you can rename it once it is there.

You will likely have to rename it after you upload it with your ftp program...or in dreamweaver if you are using that.

By default when you save a file with notepad, it will default to svaing it as a text file.

My apologies to the OP, I didn't mean to come across as harsh about being competant. I was mainly pointing out that you might be able to do more with your website if you get some help with the coding stuff. Just from experience it can be relatively cheap, you just need to know where to look.

I hope you get this particular issue sorted pretty soon.

Try to visit the site with and without the www.

It should always redirect to what you chose to be the default.
