Poker .al for sale - domain name

Hi guys, Poker .al (albania) is for sale with a BIN of $2,000.

There were some comments about this on another thread https://www.gpwa.org/forum/poker-al-...op-216326.html Please read it.

Many were not accurate but, gambling might become illegal for non-Albanian companies, one day. They want the taxes .
The government has closed all illegal gambling parlors in Albania (they were in every street corner) and has promised
to force the rest to pay taxes, not launder money etc. How this will effect the name, I do not know, no one knows. It's a cctld basically and that's why it's not priced at $10 Gazillion. However the Albania govts are notorious for reversing each other, and changing course every few months. They are over 1 Million Albanians in Greece, Italy and EU.

BIN Price is $2,000. All transfers, renewals (less than $20 a year) and all are done online. If we use SEDO, they charge $200 for this cctld, we can split that fee. We can also see if we work directly with Host.al and save $100 or so.
.al also matches Alabama as a bonus, who knows Alabama might support online poker one day.

I think it's a reasonable price and I priced it so to sell asap.

.al is the domain extension for Albania the country, not Alabama

Outside of domainers and/or very internet sawy people, barely anyone would know about .al and Albania. But yeah, I was also giving hints on possible use .

This thing is cool through, imagine boston.ma or washington.dc, lawyers .al ....for these things it makes perfect sense.

The way geographic targeting in google works, I would think a .com/net/org as well as a long list of other extensions would be a more intelligent purchase for lawyers and many other niches wanting to target Alabama.

Personally, for someone considering targeting Albania visitors, the domain is priced decent enough, for someone wanting a poker information site, a free play site or even for a domain speculator. Good luck with the sale.

Regarding geo-targeting I can say that .al ranks for Alabama. I can send a PM to any person serious about an offer. Someone has a directory and the .al actually shows fo say, "x person in AL." IMO, the future is to let any .ext to be targeted anywhere, Google will give up micromanaging it. As long as it's hosted in USA, gets some links from the area, I think it should rank. I also have lawyers .al , I should try it one day,or sell it so someone else tries it. Makes sense, "Lawyers in AL."

Either way, regardless of the .cctld, given the word it does have some value. And as you as you said, i think I priced it to sell. And a couple of dollars more or less will not kill the deal.

If Google geotargets a .al anywhere near what they do to .co.uk or .za or any other country extension, then I have to disagree with your statement about a .al ranking well in Alabama.

This would mean we should buy up all the .ca to rank in California, the .me to rank in Maine and .in for Indiana.

Portland.me for example is for sale for $8500. Birmingham .al probably for less (I have it ) Boston.ma etc etc. If you are a local person, why not buy them for 10-50 times cheaper than city.com ? Smaller cities can be had for maybe $1000. A small gamble. If Google allows free targeting--and IMO, they will--it can as global or as local as the .com.

If Average Joe saw a website like LosAngeles.ca or Sacramento.ca in search results, what would they think, a Canadian city or associate the .ca with California?

If you want to debate why it is or is not a good idea to use an albanian name for Alabama, and whether Google will give precedence to .com or .net in the US as opposed to another country's top level extension, we should do so in a different thread, maybe inb the general area, since I think it could be a very healthy discussion.
