Default pokertipspro you're a naughty boy

I don't actively look for sites that steal my content mostly because I've got better things to do.

But every now and then I stumble across a screenshot image that looks familiar (pretty distinctive as they're all live dealer related) and sure enough its lifted of my site. This annoys the crap out of me coz I don't spend time playing games, taking the shots and editing them for competitors to lift and use to profit from.

Anyway I came across a lifted image at casinoslive.nl a couple of days ago and was disappointed to learn the site was owned by GPWA member pokertipspro

So, sent him a private message asking him to remove the lifted image immediately. Which he was nice enough to do so thanks.

    But here's the ridiculous part.

The image he used to replace the stolen image was ANOTHER STOLEN IMAGE from my site.

I'd laugh if this sort of stuff didn't drive me nuts.

To pokertipspro and other content thieves out there here's a tip...

Try actually opening accounts at the casinos you promote and playing the games for yourself, and not only will you be able to get your own images, you may also learn something about those games and the casino so you can write some original and insightful content about them rather than having to copy commentary as well.

ps I'm also getting tired of that excuse ..."sorry my content writer was responsible and I didn't ask/know where he got the content/images from"

    Thanks for the heads up

IMHO any GPWA member found to be using other people's content should have their membership suspended for 30 days.

Repeat offenders get stripped of their GPWA membership for life.

Too many GPWA private members doing this dodgy ****. Worse they use the trumped up excuse of it's their webmaster or content writers fault....BS!

    Cheers

I always add a little 'image stamp' to my screenshots so anything nicked will still be advertising my URL. Maybe you could try the same thing?

FictionNet - Yeah I've started adding a stamp to all images but often it's lost/blurred with re-sizing after being lifted - ie looks clear as day at 400x400 but just an illegible smudge when resized to 220x200

    AussieDave - agree 100%

shortow, cut/crop the stamp out when it's clean and then paste it onto the images AFTER you've resized them. I can help with this if you need - it's REALLY easy.

Our program doesn't support this sort of thing. I've sent you a PM shortow.
Note to PokerTipspro, dont' copy other's intellectual property...

I may be hurting our program by publicly stating this, but we would not approve you in our program for this. Shortow is a very diligent webmaster who creates real great content for his readers. His sites enjoy very high placements in the search engines for the same. Taking content either in written form or his images is clear resounding "NO" in my book.

Shortow, you are taking this better than I would. lol

    Hi All,

I've been adding my site's copyright with the url to images for a while now.

I've also recently added hotlink protection to my .htaccess files.

As most of my sites are now WordPress there is a niffty plug-in that prevents people lifting stuff directly off the page.

Granted you can always view the source code but it's a hassle. And now with hotlinking in place I've covered my (_|_) as best I can.

    Adrian,

Don't worry about you taking a stance hurting your program, as most of us respect you MORE for it than those who don't....
