I dont agree on last click, at least not with many of the programs. Yes, if you dominate google, it would be great to get the last click, especially for programs that ask for a bonuscode when you sign up (and dont show the bonuscode by default as bet365 does).

In my opinion, way to many sites have to many obstacles in the sign up process, that send the user back to google to click on a new link. I dont think that is fair, but mabye im alone on that one

The problem is that if some uses cleaner or any spyware the first cookie is gone anyway. Companies like. Cleaner should educate people on what cookies really are.

    TheDane,

The more an affiliate dominates Google, the more advantage they have by the first click (non over-writeable) cookie.

    Maybe an example will help:
    Affiliate #A sends 10 visitors to Casino#1
Affiliate #B sends 3 visitors to Casino #1 (all 3 of those visitors had previously visited using Affiliate #A link) and those 3 sign up.

In a non over-writeable cookie situation (within cookie time frame) using first click situation Affiliate #A gets the credit.

In an over-writeable cookie situation, using last click method, Affiliate #B gets the credit.

My opinion is, that in the situation outlined above Affiliate #B closed the sale, since they signed up during the second visit. If Affiliate #A had made the sale, they would have signed up then.

This is one of those things that we end up debating here at the GPWA on a semi-frequent basis, and a number of affiliates have different reasons for why they feel one method is better than the other.

That is a good point Edgar, but the MEDIA companies, as well as the malware companies, the browser clean up companies, and let's not forget the privacy nuts all got the general public believing that cookies are such a bad thing.

Only after they start trying to monetize their little blog site or their own websites do they gain understanding and learn that without cookies they will be far less successful, and the more people use browser and cache cleaners the lower their incomes will be.

Yes, cookie terms are a real eye opener at times aren't they?

So that guy that sent a bazillion hits last year should still get credit even if the visitor comes to your site and spends 15 minutes reading your reviews and you close the sale and send him over to convert....

    NOT!
