Exclamation ALERT: Google Personalized Search Now Default - SEO and Privacy forever changed

    http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4037372.htm

you do not have to subscribe or pay to be able to take part there and read,
just click the small "register" link at the top.....

Today we're helping people get better search results by extending Personalized Search to signed-out users worldwide
    http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/12/personalized-search-for-everyone.html
That's a staggering statement meaning that every computer accessing Google is now being personalized, signed in or not, so any desktop, laptop or kiosk will start tracking everything everyone does and you won't be able to access the same search results from any two machines.
The possible impact to all is staggering.

Does this pretty much make checking your place in the serps meaningless?

It could definitely a help for certain user who uses one machine his/her own. Generally speaking, not all users will have to use it only if they consider themselves a pure IT one.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean bb. Are you saying we can opt out if we want?

Between this and sidewiki I think Google is heading in the wrong direction.

So does this mean that a player who plays on a few sites always sees his favourite sites first and then the other sites below that?

Doesn't sound good from the outset. Would like to hear more from the experts.

Btw they are also launching their real time search which creates an archive of the present. Will post in a separate thread so that we don't derail this one.
    Cheers!

I think it is right, everyone has the right to customize their searches according to their own interest, but whether this affects the "public" SERP, penalizing authority sites .. then the question changes significantly, if so, there would be many black seo that could exploit this changes.
