    Question Question about Cloudflare.

    Hi,

I would like to know your opinion about Cloudflare.
Is it effective to use the free plan for website's speed and safety?

    Any feedback is much appreciated.

I use it for all my sites and cant say anything bad about it. Haven't notice any speed decreases.

Speed wise its great for VPS or Dedicated services, not sure how well it runs with shared, I use cloudflare with the pagespeed-mod from google server side, I ditched the cache completely.. I have quite a lot on my site so its fairly quick for the amount of resources i have..

I didn't know about it and I don't use it now. I read, that it is good for website's security, speed, caching and other things I don't understand much , so I decided ask about it to our members.

It's defiantly a benefit and it doesn't cost anything to try

Does anyone use any of the "Optimized Hosting Partners" in conjunction with Cloud Flare? If so, looking for a recommendation (prefer UK based hosting providers).

I contacted with the support team of my hosting company, and they replied me that I can use Cloudflare with the content hosted on Vidahost (UK based hosting company). I have to say, that they are not on the list of Cloudflaer's optimized hosting partners xxxhttps://www.cloudflare.com/hosting-partners.

In recent months, Vidahost is amongst one of the hosting providers that has daily issues...

Thanks for info, although I haven't had any problems with them.
May be my site is hosted on the best server they have

We have a non-gaming related site on Vidahost on their "cloud" server. Strangely, when they post on their status page that they're having issues with a server or a database - our stats for that site drop off as well (little to no visitors) and the site as a whole loads slowly. I thought the purpose of cloud-based hosting was to avoid downtime issues of that exact nature, but it doesn't matter whether it is our server or our database, our site suffers.

Moreover, when other databases and servers at the hosting company are suffering from issues (reported via the status update) - our site's stats are slower as well during that timeframe - almost as if we're hit by association. Maybe the load balancing act slows us down as well?
