Default quotes and sayings which stick with you.

I have a couple of quotes or sayings, which I always remember and I would say, I live by. They give me that drive and motivation when I need to "check" myself.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f@#king beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
    - Al Swearengen

A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes.
    and
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
    - Both Gandhi quotes.

The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary - Vidal Sassoon

Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won't, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can't. - Stolen from my business partners Facebook, not sure where he got it from.

Also quite a strange one, arguably my favourite song of all time is Frank Sinatra 'That's life', this has lyrics which always remind me of working in the gambling industry as either an affiliate or operator:

    You're riding high in April,
    Shot down in May
But I know I'm gonna change that tune,
When I'm back on top, back on top in June.

If I'm depressed about recent results or something has got down it reminds me that in a few months I'll probably be laughing somewhere else in the world - helps me get over the fluctuating nature of the industry. I'm sure you've all heard the tune, but if you haven't http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIiUqfxFttM

Which movie is this from? It made me laugh.

Unfortunately I got teased a lot at school because of the way I looked (my hair) and I was a pretty ugly kid. Whenever I came home upset or saying how much I hate the way I looked etc, my dad would always say to me:

"Don't put yourself down because there are a million other people out there willing to do it for you."

Another one that I have always stayed true to is "Learn from other's mistakes. You don't live long enough to make them all yourself."

Now for my favourite.. It's a greek saying.
I can't remember how to spell it correctly but here goes:

Ο κόσμος καίγετε καί το μουνί ξυρίζετε

The direct translation is: The world is on fire and the vagina is shaving itself.
    Interpret that how you will

There are several lines that come to mind.

"Another world is not only possible, she's on her way. Many of us many not be around to greet her, but on a quiet day, if I listen carefully, I can hear her breathing."
    - Arundhati Roy

"Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity."
    - Horace Mann. This was extremely frequently repeated at the college I attended, so much so that we often just shortened it to "be ashamed."

And on a light note, Christopher Walken's lions speech from Poolhall Junkies:
"Don't beat him. Kick his ass." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzekDivpK3M

Epic.. epic.. movie. This would be an awesome movie to remake.. although I can't think of anyone worthy enough to take on Christopher Lamberts role.

"En ma Fin gît mon Commencement..." (by Mary Queen of Scots) is my life motto, meaning "In my end is my beginning". That's the saying that keeps me going
P.S. I'm thinking of having it tattooed on my wrist.

There are so many sayings I like...

'Choose a job you love and you will never have to work another day in your life'

Can I also have 'Don't worry, be happy' even though its a song

Gemma, that's why I still haven't got one, I'm super afraid of regretting :P
However, as Rak mentioned it's quite meaningful and way too important

Classic, Army of Darkness, one of my favorite movies of all time. I use his quotes daily, and drives my wife crazy.
