Removing casino software

I've just had an email from a w/m that I know. It seems that he installed the playing software from a casino, tried it and then ran the uninstall. However it seems to have left a lot of stuff in his computer. At the moment I don't know which casino it was. Is this usual, and are there simple removal procedures? I am aware of the usual Windows cleanup routines like spybot, regcleanr and others. I wondered if there was something that was casino specific.

I've had an update on this, and it looks as if it may have been a windows problem as the software has now come out cleanly. I suspect that the guy tried to remove the software after he had been using it and still had an active routine so windows protected it.

Does this seem likely, and do you recommend that surfers restart their machines before running an un-install?

Actually I'd like to know about this to, I have a number of casinos in my PC I'd like out.

I use the add/remove programs and they do disappear, BUT in mty Windows explorer folder they're all still in there?

Any safe way to remove, or should they be left alone?

I'm worried about removing the folders in case of shared programs.

I've got the same problem and when I try to remove them again it has an error and can't open folder. Could use help here too.

Want to give us the specific Casinos?

I've installed dozens in the last few weeks as I prepare my first site. So far I haven't removed any.

If we know which ones I can test it ourselves.. Its more likely going to be a software brand, perhaps my new portal needs a "how to remove programs" section, tho that sounds counter productive to what I'm trying to do

Many programs will leave their install directy behind with a few files detailing settings etc. Thats so if you re-install the program they can grab your old settings. These files are generally safe to remove.

I always think it's mad to leave details of the old settings in a pc. One of the main reasons for re-installing is because windows has managed to mess everything up by keeping on changing the settings. Having the old one return just ensures that the problem continues.

There are a number of standard utilities for getting rid of old software and trojans. Two of the ones I use are spybot and regcleanr. There are some links to these at www.speedyrom.com.

Personally, I've always used the "Add/Remove Programs" function, then gone in to "explore" and deleted the folder for the casino. I've never had a prob with doing that in 3 years. In fact, I just removed about 80 casinos this way. (I download every one of them that goes on my sites)
