    Default SEO Bad Eggs

So i moved from Social and started taking on the world of SEO 18 months ago.

Its been fun, still learning everyday!

But my biggest lesson is 95% of the SEO experts, guys who charge a fortune! Have not got a clue.........

6 months to build it up excuse, then ride it out as long as possible.

Not employed one of these, but seen loads of this around!

Anyone else had problems with people selling SEO services?

I was a beta tester for a brand that used to be a sponsor here and went under, in less than 7 months. They did hire a "reputable" SEO from here that charged them a rediculous amount of money per month for pretty much tips from MoZ. I can tell you more on PM if you'd like to know who and what.

If the thread is for the sake of discussion, then yes most are selling "hope" and offer you are place in Top10. And as universal4 says "so what happens to the 11th guy when he comes in?"

Xecutable more of a discussion continued from our office! Just wondered if others thought the same. Would love to know about this large company though, always good to know.

I agree with the sentiment here.....especially the part about what Universal4 says......LOL

Bytheway, what happens to the 11th guy? He is taken care of and the other 10 get an email or phone call that if they pay more they will move up a position....and when they don't move up....google's algo is blamed.....lol

So true. I wouldn't use any of them to be honest. I've always believed in having a test site to experiment with to see what works and what doesn't. If something works for my test site, then I apply it to my main sites.

Hired a company who go to all the igb shows. Promised the world in the sales pitch. Delivered absolutely nothing. Worst experience of all time.

Most people with experience in SEO for igaming are already better than the majority of people working in those agencies.

In the end, most of them want to buy links, which basically means you are paying the normal price of the link plus the agencies fees on top, essentially paying way more for the exact same crap. Waste of time.

Search engines by design are trying to go out there and catalogue information / pages and present it to user requests according to best fit algos.

I understand a basic search engine ready package - getting people to actually use titles and h1 h2 tags, and alts - in order that they present to the search engine a better description of what their page is about. Given all the websites on Wordpress and Blogger that are so awful at doing these basics - that can enable some websites to rank for low competition keywords.

I can also understand a social marketing expert adding some value in explaining the best way to set-up twitter and facebook and the like. It's time consuming and there are a lot of different options - so a heads-up on effective practice makes sense.

But beyond that these SEO experts have ZERO insight into the mechanisms behind the rankings - if they say otherwise then they are untruthful.

So what I don't understand is what do you really think you are going to get from an "SEO expert"?
What super secret or advanced information do you think that they have that they are going to share for 199 or 299 or 599 or whatever?

Thegooner, i normally talk with them for learning purposes. We have had some very helpful SEO experts in the office and some really bad ones.

But i would never actually take one on, i will always listen and see what they are offering! but so easy to see past most of them.

I am only 18months into my SEO journey, but really enjoying it! so will keep learning and trying new things.

The main point of this post was to get others thoughts and opinions.

Everybody can call himself SEO-expert and indeed most aren't. Neither am I. If I were a SEO-expert and I really knew things few other people knew, I would rank my own websites top and not spam everywhere to sell my SEO-services.

Then you are wasting your time... MOST SEO experts... do not even rank for their own keywords.. yet they tell you they can help you rank for the keywords that you want... Listen... if you want solid advice get answers from the top 10!... those are the only people that count SEO badge or not..

Most SEO experts, in my experience, seem either not to give a **** or to be SEO experts only in terms of expertly extracting a maximum amount of compensation for minimum SEO work.

Any SEO expert that could rank prime keywords in the gambling niche,
would care less about having clients, and just rank and bank on their own.
