Hi - can anyone tell me the best process / tool for setting up a site map / submitting a site map for a new site built in WP.

Do I need to create a site map.xml first then upload it through Search Console? And is there a recommended plug in?

If you use jetpack or yoast you can create a sitemap with either of those and both handy plugins to have and use anyway.

Thanks. Let's say I was creating 20 new pages a week, should I therefore be re-generating the site map on a regular basis and re-submitting through Search Console? Or is once enough?

The bots will naturally revisit for new content, but a few bookmarks (Reddit, FB, Twitter) and it will work. Use IFTTT.com

I'm use WP plugin - Simple Wp Sitemap - it automatically generates html and xml sitemap and has the right settings. Sitemap in the webmaster panel can be added once and forget about it.

I was using this plugin but there seemed to be a bug as it was defaulting title meta data to the last post / page done. Not cool

Hi, we use Yoast SEO plugin. It has a feature which automatically generates sitemap.xml that can be used to submit to Google Console.

To enable XML Sitemaps:

• Log in to your WordPress website. When you're logged in, you will be in your 'Dashboard'. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 'SEO'
• The 'SEO' settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 'General'.
• Click on the Features tab.
• Toggle the 'XML Sitemaps' switch to 'On'.
• Click 'Save Changes' to activate XML Sitemaps.

The sitemap index and individual sitemaps are updated automatically as you add or remove content and will include the post types you want search engines to index.

I use Google XML Sitemaps.

Just activate it and it will automatically send you the latest sitemap to Google.

If the index is slow with this plug-in, registering a sitemap in the search console is more reliable.
