    Default Skrill down?

I'm unable to log into my Skrill account today, getting "Email or password invalid" and a not-seen-before 'captcha' request that doesn't work. I've fired off an e-mail to Skrill but know it'll probably be several days (if ever) that I hear back.

    Anyone else having issues?

    TIA.

Just tried and could log in fine. Also didn't notice any captcha request, everything as it normally is.

Many thanks. I'm in now. I had to change my password, though - not sure why but when I logged in I was nagged about the new '2 factor authentication' option, which I chose to decline as I'm already using the keyfob thingy.

    Thanks again.

Hi, just reading your post and see you mention a key fob thingy .. for Skrill? Did I miss something? Didn't know that existed...

Yeah, they're useful as (I believe/hope) it means your account is protected against unauthorised access. I've got two of the things, in case I lose one or the battery dies. It's called a 'cryptocard' I think. Have a look in your account, you can order as many as you like for a small fee.

You can also use 2-factor with an app if you don't want to get a special key fob.

Thousands of Skrill accounts have been hacked and hundreds of thousands of dollars stolen in the past few months.
This is the reason behind requiring a password change (for active accounts with money balance).

Even more reason to get one, had not heard of this happening, so understand OP.

I had to change my password several days ago in a similar situation, and everything has been good since.

Well, today I can't access my account AGAIN. There's a forced captcha form that just doesn't work. Tried it probably 20 times.

As predicted, Skrill's support never bothered to reply to my message.

ETA. Now logged in again. Meh.

Skrill security has more holes than Swiss cheese. The blanket password reset suggests that their database has been compromised, only they are not doing the responsible thing and publicly disclosing it. The same thing happened in 2010 and they only publicly revealed it in 2015. I'm working on moving any remaining payments away from them and shutting down our accounts because the evidence suggests that they are not in control of their own systems and they are being dishonest in their handling of the situation.

We will also stop using Skrill for receiving affiliate payments. An account of friend of mine was hacked and about 10K GBP transferred to several other accounts within a few hours! Skrill refused to refund the money.

    FictionNet,

Did your user/pw just start working? I am having same problem and also have key fob. When I go to reset password, it sends me an email with a link and the link just tells me to contact support.. no option to reset. Pretty annoying,I have mid 5 digits in my account.. hopefully they dont take months to fix it

This is a good point. I noticed a sophisticate phishing attempting recently. It was an email from Skrill requesting a password change so I immediately pressed the reply button and the sender email was security@moneybookers.com from there I checked the HTML source of the email and noticed it was sent from a Godaddy server which is different from their normal mailing server. Anyhow, what scared me the most is I have two Skrill accounts, one of them I used my full legal name and the other on I left out my middle name. So one of the phishing emails had my full legal name the other had my middle name left out, its almost like the hacker had partial access to their database.

Try to contact them by phone. I had the same problem few weeks before and since they didn't respond to my email messages I called them and reset my password immediately.

    Thanks!! appreciate that.

I tried to call when it happened, but I was 30mins late, lines were closed for the night.

Tried their US # since it says 24/7, but didnt work from my phone.

I'll call them in the morning... good to hear tho, I was worried cause I know their support is notoriously bad.

Did they say why it happened to you?
