Default Sky Vegas - A rip off?

Is anyone else here promoting Sky Vegas?
    (NOT Vegas Sky)

I've been pushing them for 6 weeks - and I mean REALLY pushing. I have invested 10 x more time, effort and money to promote them than any other brand ever.

But their affy system is CRAP - they do not show ANY figures for impressions or clicks... only sign-ups.
And according to them all my efforts have resulted in absolutely zilch.

Frankly I just do not believe this - I know from my website hits that their banners have been viewed over 50,000 times...

    So my question;
Does anyone else who is promoting them have similar concerns, or is everything hunky-dorey?

    Cheers!

Default I would have to agree

I have been in the same position, also my partner has promoted them for around 8 weeks with not even one download.

Seems strange to me, I assume your speaking of the Rival one as this is the one we are noticing the stats are strange??

No, the Orbis / Wagerworks one - that's why I said NOT Vegas Sky.

While I cannot comment on Sky Vegas directly, I can say that I can certainly identify with your experience. We have had the identical thing happen with various brands that we have promoted over the years.

I can tell you from personal experience that there is a tremendous amount of fraud in this industry, and I would say MORESO on the affiliate side than on the player side. That's a tough thing to say, but I know players at certain casinos personally that have played at, won at, and been paid by a casino, and I know the affiliate that they signed up through and that the affiliate was not credited with the signup. I am sure you would find some of the names of brands that I could mention along this line quite surprising, as there are "reputable" brands in the gaming category that my information shows have either questionable affiliate practices, or a poor tracking system (or both).

If you are at all in doubt I encourage you to sign up for a test account through your own link, or get a friend to do so. If the affiliate program gets mad and says that it is fraud because you can't sign up for an account under your own affiliate account, explain to them that you are just testing tracking. If they are legit, they will be understanding of this.

If you do this and the tracking turns out to seemingly be working, remember that you are running a business and you have to get a return for the time and money you invest in promotions. Some brands just do not convert for certain people while they convert like gangbusters for others. It is important to experiment and give a number of brands exposure, in order to see what works for promoting whom. Remember to do your research at places like AffiliateGuardDog in order to identify the most reputable programs, as well as to find out what brands are actually converting for other affiliates.

Of course if the signup doesn't track double check your link, and if you are sure it is correct then I wouldn't bother promoting the brand any further. You can bring the matter up to the affiliate manager so that if they are honest and can actually find an error, they might be able to identify the problem and locate other signups that did come from you. We have actually had this happen once. But more often than not, the tracking system is just a dud and you are better off spending your time promoting a program with a more developed affiliate system.

    Best of luck to you.

I started promoting them about a month ago and have sent a small amount of highly targeted traffic (i.e. - "play XXX slot for real money" sort of thing), but have not seen a single player

The worst thing is, that because their stats don't show clicks, I can't tell whether they are not simply not tracking, or whether they don't convert.

It's a shame, because the casino itself is great...

Obviously they are ripping everybody off. But its probably a "software glitch" or so they will say. They probably will tell you they sent out an email notifying you of a link that needed to be changed. You know, the email that really didnt go out and they kept all your earnings for themselves.

No wishing to tell you what to do but why dont you just open an account via your own links, whilst working for my previous company I always encouraged affiliates to open a test account i know that my links and tracking worked 100% but I wanted the affiliate to have confidence in my offering.

I did try to do this, but I already joined SkyBet a few years ago and their system picked this up even though I used a different address...

However, I am going to get one or two friends to sign-up and see what happens...
    I will report back ASAP.

    Thanks for the replies everyone!

I just did an experiment; clicking various links on my site and following them through to the the new player registration page and noting if the URLs contained my affy code:-

    My affy code is 9011730;<O</O
When I clicked a Bejeweled & Street Fighter to £100 splash banner it was correct, but when I went from there to the sign-up page it changed to 3797:-
    <Ohxxps ://www. skybet.com/secure/skybet?action=GoAcctReg1&aff=3797
    <O</O
When I clicked a Rainbow Riches banner again it was correct on the landing page, but through to the sign-up page and there was no code:-
    <Ohxxps ://www. skybet.com/secure/skybet?action=GoAcctReg1&skin=casino </O
    <O</O
When I clicked a text link (ending 79) it stayed the same = 9011730:-<O</O
    hxxps ://www. skybet.com/secure/skybet?action=GoAcctReg1&skin=casino&aff=9011730

Now to me the last one looks perfectly OK, but the first two definitely do not!

Does anyone who knows exactly how these things work think there is something amiss here?

Can other people who promote them try the same experiment with your links & see what you get please?

    Thanks,
    KK

Yup, if I use my link, I go through to this page:

    hxxp://www.skyvegas.com/vegas?aff=9011844&ASSET_ID=79

But then if I click on the "Join now to play Sky Vegas " on the right hand side of that page, or the "Getting Started" on the left hand side it takes me though to this page

    hxxps://www.skybet.com/secure/skybet?action=GoAcctReg1

which DOESN'T have my aff code

On the other hand, if I go via my link to play one of the instant slot games and click "real play" followed by "register a new Sky Vegas account", it takes me though to this page:

    hxxps://www.skybet.com/secure/skybet?action=GoAcctReg1&skin=casino&aff=9011844

which DOES have my aff code

Whether they both track, one tracks or neither tracks, I don't know...

    Update:-
I e-mailed my concerns to the affy team yesterday, and their reply said that the first link WAS wrong! They said it was only wrong for 29hrs - it was apparently a brand new set of banners & links which only went live yesterday, which I used totally by coincidence.
They did not know it was wrong until they got my e-mail, so they thanked me for pointing out the error & apologized sincerely.

The other two links are apparently correct.

    Still no bloody sign-ups though!

I've given up on SkyBet/SkyVegas for the very reasons you suggest but I thank you for reminding me to take down the few links I've got left ! No proper tracking. I've given up with their affiliate support as well. They are an absolute shower.

I told them I couldn't see any clicks in my affiliate stats but they didn't seem to understand what I meant. Best left alone until they sort themselves out. Shame really.

Tryme, did you EVER get a sign-up and deposit with them?

So who would be the best programs to promote for UK slots?

I had thought the selection of games at Sky Vegas looked really good, especially with Rainbow Riches etc...

I haven't had any luck with Ladbrokes, either...

Nope, never got a sign up. I gave up fairly quick to be fair, as it is obvious their affiliate program is strictly amateur hour.

I'm surprised you haven't had any luck with Ladbrokes, I do OK with them, but then I'm mainly a sports betting guy.

UK slots? I'm not really the person to ask, but you might give Virgin Casino a go - they've got the same games as Sky

Correction - some of the same games as Sky.
Virgin only has Wagerworks games, Sky has loads from other softwares too, like Barcrest, Bell Fruit, Cryptologic, and lots more.

Theirs is a very exciting & unique casino which is one of the reasons I find it so hard to believe I have had not one solitary player register there.

Yes, that's the key with Sky - the offering (and presentation) looks to be top class.

The nearest I've seen, in terms of variety in the offering is probably Party Casino. I've not tried them yet, though - anyone getting conversions from them?

It's funny you mention Sky as they e-mailed me wanting inclusion on our list then had the audacity to want payment for putting them on. I concluded the message with two short words. What a cheek! That's like me asking everyone here to link to my site and charging them a score for the privilege!
