    Exclamation Slovak Republic Gambling Regulation Office Letter to the GPWA

    Late this past week the GPWA received a letter from the Gambling Regulation Office of the Slovak Republic (Úrad pre reguláciu hazardných hier). We have scanned the letter, and made it available here:

    Slovakian Gambling Regulation Office Letter to the GPWA

    The letter notes that it is illegal to promote unlicensed online gambling within Slovokia, and provides information about both licensed and unlicensed operators. Here are some useful links provided in the letter:

    The Slovokian Gambling Act

    The current list of licensees under the Gambling Act

    The published list of prohibited websites

    A list of prohibited websites blocked based on court orders

    The letter concludes by asking us “for cooperation by informing your members and sponsors they are obligated to comply with the provisions of the Gambling Act on the prohibition of promotion and operation of gambling games, for which a license has not been granted in the Slovak Republic. This activity is a provision of a prohibited offer within the meaning of the Gambling Act. The Authority asks you to ensure that your members and sponsors comply with the laws in force in the Slovak Republic.”

    “In this way, you will contribute to the protection of vulnerable groups, the prevention of underage gambling, combating fraudulent and criminal behavior, and the protection of customer privacy and safeguarding of information.”

    Accordingly, I am making this post to inform our members and sponsors of the letter we received, publishing the letter for everyone to read, and also announcing our receipt of the letter in today’s GPWA Times weekly newsletter.

    I invite you to discuss the letter in this thread.

    I looked at the list of blacklisted sports websites. Many of them were seemingly random-based numerical domains like www.365-878.com, www.365-588.com, www.365466.com etc. If the operators are changing domains before/when they are blacklisted, it is hard for me to understand how they could be effectively stopped.

    I don't know the definitive answer to that question, but right now I think the answer is no.

    Insofar as I have been able to find, there is a list of companies that are licensed Slovakian operators, most have land-based operations, but some are identified as being authorized to provide online gaming services in the following document:

    List of granted individual licenses for the operation of gambling games

    However, the document provides only a list of licensed operators, and does not provide an actual list of online gaming sites that can be researched to see if they offer affiliate programs.

    Separately, City City does publish a list of online gambling sites known to be licensed in Slovokia here:

    Slovokian Online Gambling - www.casinocity.sk/online-gaming/

    However, to the best of my knowledge, none of the nine online gambling sites listed on that page have associated affiliate programs.

    So, insofar as I can tell, there is not a way for affiliates to benefit financially from promoting legal online gambling sites in Slovakia.

    I have sent an email to the Slovakian Gambling Regulation Office asking if they know of any licensed operators with affiliate programs.

    I know about 5 affiliate programs that work and accept affiliates. I promote them on my website.

    Tipsport.sk = tipsport.sk/partner
    Ifortuna.sk = portal.fortunaaffiliates.sk
    Synottip.sk = affiliate.synottip.sk
    NEW is Betring.sk = affiliates.betring.sk/registration.asp
    Doxxbet.sk = doxxbet.postaffiliatepro.com/affiliates/signup

    You have also nike.sk, monacobet.sk... They do not accept affiliates.

    The biggest problem is that they will take your players after 1 year. You can try to negotiate to keep them for longer time.

    Another problem is that you are promoting brands that do not have nothing special to offer gamblers... No poker, no LIVE casino, not so fancy slots... mostly Czech and Slovak brands (nice, but not exclusive). This is just my opinion, ofc.

    Another thing is that players must wait to get verified before closing any bet. Phone, email, documents... everything.

    Many players are already registered, so it is also difficult to bring new players.
