Facebook and Twitter are the strongest ones for direct traffic. Means, with strong FB page and lots of followers twitter account, you can get direct traffic to your assets.

BUT

Small social media groups, niche ones, local ones, new ones are the ones to place to focus on, in terms of SEO efforts. Dont forget the small ones and dont misunderstand the value of them all for your online asset.

I don't understand how social sites like FB and Twitter can help. I hate FB and most of my friends aren't gamblers looking for my kind of websites. How am I going to get traffic from these social sites? What is it that helps?

I agree that FB, Twitter, G+ etc. can be very powerful tools to direct traffic if you connect well with your users.

But has anyone actually had any success in getting a prior approval from Facebook to create a page for a gambling site as they require from their FAQ?
Or is everybody just getting in there hoping that the site will not be closed at some time?

I think social network helps getting the brand’s names out there. They won’t bring you revenue in a short time period, but in a long run they will help you marketing your product in whatever industry you are and eventually consumer will be more likely to trust you if they have heard your name or the name of the product you are promoting.

there was a good hour-long social marketing masterclass on gotowebinar/gotomeeting that i listened to a few days ago and wanted to recommend but I cant find a proper link to any information about that class on their website now, not even in my emails they sent me, weird.. anyhow, I'm sure there will be more in the matter on other sites as well just need to keep your eyes/ears open but I'm pretty confident in social media to deliver, just need to find the right path on it

Facebook is a great way of getting traffic because if you have say 100 Facebook friends then your message displays on their "wall" and if some of their friends like it then your message keeps been posted all over Facebook.

Erogenous, because of you hate FB, you can`t see all it`s power. My friend in Italy had started his business from FB, not having a penny. Now he has about 50 new players from there every month. Not bad, and he didn`t use any advertising.

Yes Facebook can be a great way of getting traffic to your website if you have the time to write interesting posts!.....it is amazing how the "word" can spread on Facebook.

I found some forms of traffic are easier to get then others on FB - through profiles and pages. eg... sportsbetting and poker are very community orientated, the games, the news, the interaction, the videos. Casino and slots, I found you have to give them something specific that they want - whether it be bonuses (and then trying to build that Fan base), or interesting news.

But you have to continuously update FB and Twitter, without it.. you're not pushing info out to current fans, or new fans.

I still haven't seen anyone to talk from 1st person, that has managed to use Twitter or Facebook to drive major traffic from depositors to his/her site. All I have heard is people talk about 'friends' or other people, or have seen webinars to talk about it, but never have I seen someone that has done it and reported it here or in the other forums.

While the idea has a potential, the lack of support from the majority of affiliates makes me think this is rather hard next to impossible, than an easy and achievable task. In fact I have talked to advertisers (brands) that have spent hefty budget on Facebook gambling ads, and despite the targeted audience the conversion has been low.

While I am no expert in reading stats or have any experience with social platforms, I believe the bold keyword here is SOCIAL, meaning people come online to socialize, get in touch, rather than spend money and go off to casino/poker/sportsbook website. Of course I can be wrong, but looking at what everyone is reporting, I doubt Facebook and Twitter will go hand in hand with gambling affiliates.

My 2 cents, I use both just for the backlinks and the ranking signals used by Google.

I have used other social networks to drive traffic to a few of my sites. I would think they help with conversions .

Social Media Tools like Facebook and Twitter might not give you the expected traffic you want looking at the number of users they have - not to mention that maybe 1/3rd of the members are fake accounts or doubled up accounts. Though I find Facebook personally one effective tool to get your name out there and to connect with existing clients/players you have. I have few affiliates who uses Facebook to drive in traffic and they deliver good. It's also one way to build trust with your users/players - I am not sure why.. but it sure does.

Social media may be powerful tool, but it's not that easy to use for getting a result. Personal or company's FB page, for example, might require great efforts to promote and maintain up to date in order to attract people and therefore provide traffic.
