In my native language there is only one term for a bookmaker.
Which term do you use? I have noticed that on bookmaker/partner sites it is very different and interchangeable.
Bookmakers also use different terms e.g. Bookmaker .eu, Mybookie ag Sportsbook com

I wonder how the different terms sound to people for whom English is the native language?

Here on the forum I read the opinions of user chaumi that "Bookie" is a bit slang.

And how do you guys perceive it and which term do you use?

If you mean 'which do you use in everyday spoken terminology', for the UK I'd expect most experienced punters will say 'bookies' naturally. But that's coming at it from the perspective of an experienced punter - it's possible that some youngsters getting involved now will use 'sportsbook' since they may have had more exposure to that term. It depends on their upbringing, social circles, media exposure, and related influences.

If you mean ' what do you use in website content?' the answer is 'whatever is most appropriate for the target audience'. I'd say that normally means one or more will be the most likely to be used by those targets, but you would also be wise to refer to the others synonymously (ie use them to vary the text once you've formed the initial associations).

Note : that may also be the case in your example, Dannyx, where there is normally only one locally-used term. You can tell if that would be advantageous by analysing how search engines recognise/treat/display the terms in local language SERPs. ofc we're talking here about 'writing for search engines' but there are (usually) ways to do it that satisfy all needs without necessarily impacting the experience of the user negatively.
