    Default Stolen content

    Hello,

I recently saw that someone has plagiarized one totally original article of my site. His site is a medium/big casino gambling site with many pages.
I tried to contact him twice, using the contact form on his site, asking at least to put a link to the original source.
    He never replied back.
What can I do? What would YOU do?

    Thanks

    Hi,

What country are we speaking about? We had same problems in Russia, and we contacted the Search Engine "Yandex" saying that they stole our content and that they are not replying. They tried to contact them through webmaster tools, and made a warning that they will be ranked lower/given a penalty for such behaviour. Other than that it is really hard to fight against that I believe.

It is an English site. The funny thing is that, a few months ago, a russian site has done the same thing. But it was a member of GPWA. So they replied and put a link. This is why, in another thread I asked how can I find if a portal belongs to a GPWA member.

First of all: Content thieves acting on purpose!
There is no other rational explanation.
Unless he forgot to place the backlink to your website in this case.
    Compute the odds.
Content thieves are nothing but work-shy scapegraces, shady riffraff, and I want to see one person, who can prove the opposite.

"His site is a medium/big casino gambling site with many pages."
If you found a way for contact, ask for a source link to your site, and if there is no reply within 14 days, then blame and shame the website in the public.

    Good idea.
However I don't want to draw more attention to the specific content.
So this is what I will try to do:
Find an email or other way of contacting him besides contact form.
If there is no reply I will blame and shame the website publicly without describing the specific content. If he somehow appears and raises an argument, then I will be more specific if needed publicly.

Hit the copycat where it hurts...

Also, I'd be quick to file a DMCA, as well as contact their hosting. Shoot first, ask questions later IMO.

I have to agree with Shay. Show them you're not scared of using whatever legal system is available to you and shout it loud so they get the message.

Find out who their host is and complain to them directly.

This is just ONE of the reasons that whois privacy can be a bad thing.

Have you tried doing a whois and sending an email to the contract listed?

The email address, even if hidden by prvacy absolutely MUST be a valid email and can not bounce.

If it bounces, file an invalid contact form with ICANN if it is a .com

Some registrars also have their own forms available (such as godaddy - if it is a godaddy domain) Some other top levels also offer forms, such as apnic and others.
