    Perhaps one of your plug ins is causing the problem. I had that happen to me a few years back and I tracked it to a plug in conflict. Try disabling your plugins and try it, then activate them one by one to see if you can duplicate the error.

    Sorry I can't recall what the specific issue was as it was way back when...

    If its not a plugin issue, then check and make sure you .htaccess file is setup properly. If you are not sure about this, check the WP help sections or just google.

    sg,

    First of all, since you are a private member you are allowed to post links to your site as long as it is not blatant spamming (which this certainly is not)

    Secondly, when discussing issues or asking for help with a problem, it only makes sense to post a link so others have the information available in order to help.

    I am actually trying to help someone with the same kind of issue with a wordpress site and I agree that this could be an issue with a plugin.

    Are you using the mod rewrite for the urls?
    If so, can you see the page if you put the real url in but not the rewritten page name?

    thanks for the feedbacks,

    Now I know that it always helps to be advised by people like you guys...

    I did the plugin on and off. but the problem is still on..

    Currently the permalink setting is /%postname%.html ( I have the .html on pages plugin on)

    and there is the problem... if i remove .html from the permalink settings my blog is working fine.. but if i add the.html at the end of postname setting it is not working...

    I have other blogs on the same kind of set up they are working fine...

    Is there anything has to be done with the theme that i'm using...

    Again thanking in advance...

    @sg

    I'm not sure I completely understand you, let me know if I'm wrong.

    Why are you adding .html on the end? WordPress generates .php files automatically. You are probably confusing your server. Rather use a cache plugin if you wish to render your pages in html format.

    If I'm on the wrong track above have you tried re-saving your permalinks settings?

    Edit: I see you do not have an .htaccess file in your bingonews folder. If you re save your permalink settings WordPress will automatically create one for you.

    Hi Ixian...

    To be very honest i have little idea about servers and I do not play with them (just not to get in to any trouble)

    i have two other blogs where the permalink custom setting is /%postname%.html (and I have the .html on pages plugin active) they are working fine...

    with this new blog when i'm trying to put the same setting it's not working... in fact i have now deactivated .html on pages plugin and used /%postname% as custom setting on permalink then even it's not working...

    I Hope I'm able to make you understand my problem...

    let me know what you think...

    You don't need to adjust any settings on your server. Just go to Settings >> Permalinks and click on save. You don't need to change any settings in there. This will cause WP to create a .htaccess file for you.

    I'm sure that this will correct your problem.

    Create a text file and save it as htaccess.txt, then upload it to your bingonews folder via your ftp application (not through WP) then rename it .htaccess. You would then need to resave your Permalink settings so that WP can add the correct content into the .htaccess file.

    i have copied the wp htaccess file from my other server...

    this is the code which is lying on the htaccess file

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /bingo-news/
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /bingo-news/index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

    then even I'm not able to use the custom permalink /%postname% setting

    Edit: Snap! lol

    You could also add the following code into your .htaccess file before uploading to your server.

    Code:
    # BEGIN WordPress
    <ifmodule mod_rewrite.c="">
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /bingo-news/
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /bingo-news/index.php [L]
    </ifmodule>

    # END WordPress

    On a windows server you need an isapi filter such as mod-rewrite from Helicon. (unless it's a windows 2008 install)

    The free version can get you by, but does not support htaccess and rewrite rules are defined in the http_conf file. This is a global file and for all sites on the server, whereas the paid version supports seperate htaccess files.

    A windows admin needs to be involved in the install of this and will need to handle the http_conf file since it resides in the helicon program folder.

    On Server 2008 Microsoft has it's own Url rewrite module and supports htaccess
