sub affiliate program?

Just got your mailer about the sub affiliate program and wanted to know if you all really think some of these terms are fair:

<TABLE class=contentpaneopen><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top>For the 2011 Poker Host offers all our active affiliates the opportunity to increase their monthly income for referring new affiliates into our amazing affiliate program.
Simple, if you already have an active affiliate account at PokerHost.com, you just have to refer to any friend who has a website and wants to join our program, receiving an amazing monthly commission that the affiliate referral generated.
The commissions for referring new affiliates range from 3% to 5% in addition to what their players generate on a monthly basis for a period of 6 months.
The affiliate referred to our program should contact our affiliate department to mark which member referred you, and so we can link you and track the affiliate’s commission.
Terms and Conditions

In order for an active affiliate to participate in our sub affiliate program, he/she must be an active affiliate, generating more than $ 200 in monthly rake.
The affiliate who refers a new affiliate will receive a percentage of the monthly rake the affiliate referred to, as long as it remains active.
After 3 months of inactivity on the part of the affiliate referred, the commission is terminated due to inactivity.
The Sub-Affiliate has to contact, the Poker Host affiliate department to verify the name of the affiliate who refer him.
Poker Host has the right to terminate this agreement at any time they wish without warning or notice.
Poker Host has the right in assigning this agreement to who they believe deserves it as long as they meet the requirements. Any attempt to abuse the spirit of this agreement will result in the abuser's account being suspended.
The active affiliate can refer as many people as you wish, and receive a percentage of these new affiliates as long as these affiliate referred to verify that they were brought by the affiliate.
This promotion runs for 6 months as long as they meet the standards set forth above. If any of these are not met the agreement will automatically be cancel.
Any person registered as an Affiliate can not subsequently be reclassified as a Sub-Affiliate. Under no circumstances are you allowed to (I) register yourself as your own Sub-Affiliate; (ii) use fictitious or alias names for the registration of Sub-Affiliates; or (iii) offer any type of enticement of monetary value or otherwise to potential Sub-Affiliates unless such enticements are approved by us. Commercial Use Only.
This Marketing opportunity is for commercial use only, and you may not sign up or make deposits to any Account, directly or indirectly, through your Tracker(s) (or any Sub-Affiliate tracker) for your own personal use, to fraudulently increase the Affiliate Fees payable to you or to otherwise defraud us. In no event are you to receive Affiliate Fees on your own Player Account. Violation of this provision constitutes Fraud Traffic.
Sub-Affiliate Fees. In addition to the Affiliate Fee for Players you refer, you will also receive, subject to the agreed upon payment plan and rate, your commission on the Affiliate Fees due and payable to your Sub-Affiliate(s) for Players they refer.

Looks rather predatory to me too. Plus the sign up process is total crap... the affiliate has to contact support and tell them who sent them.

Don't understand why they did not just enable a sign up link the way 99.9999999% of the other programs do.

This setup is not worth the time and effort.

Nice try PokerHost, I enjoy promoting the brand but this sub aff. plan is a FAIL.

Exactly Chips, I feel the same way, it's BS and then on top of it, we have to worry about the sub actually contacting them to say they were sent by so and so.....not gonna work for me unless they change these T&Cs.

You know that they make players manually activate bonus offers too. I had a player sign up with them awhile back who was a pretty big raker and he stopped playing there because of it. Made me look like an idiot, telling my players that the bonus was automatically given via the link.

Anyway, I'm not sure if they still do it but you can see the guy was pretty pissed off in my forum HERE[/url]. As you can also see, Sherry chimed in not willing to do anything and then just took off.

BTW, along with the fact they make the subs manually contact them terms 3 and 8 seem pretty predatory to me as well.

I read through most of that thread and it was about Poker Host, did I not read far enough into it?

Yeah, its a pretty long thread and you got the basic idea from the posts I already made here.

The guy was pissed because he earned a bunch of points toward his bonus before it was "activated" and I told him that the bonus was automatically given through the link which was what I was told by Sherry when I asked for a bonus code.

Nothing ever came of it and the guy just quit playing there.

As soon as you contacted me due to this player I contacted you back and had them activate the player's bonus. Like I told you back then the player bonuses here at Pokerhost.com are done manually. I have never told you otherwise.

Plus when you needed something I have always been there and never as you claim that I took off not willing to do anything.

I believe all my current affiliates can agree on that never have I ever once left them, or as you claim not willing to do anything and then just took off.

Well, you did contact me and have the player activate his bonus but that doesn't change the fact that you told me that the bonus is credited to all players directly from the link when I requested a bonus code from you. That is what you told me and I took it as just that, not that players must manually activate the bonus, which you never said. It also doesn't change the fact that my player lost out on part of their bonus and quit using your room as a result.

As for you saying you've always been there, you have besides with this incident. You can see in this post that you had more questions that you never responded to and thats what I meant by taking off and by saying that you weren't willing to do anything, I meant the issue was never resolved.

Anyway, this is old news and I'm not really interested in dicussing it further. I just brought it up because it seems like the same problem is going to happen with this sub affiliate deal and was hoping that you guys might think about enabling a direct sign up link because of it.

I guess thats enough derailing of this thread, so what do you think about the sub affiliate program terms Sherry?

You wanted a specific Bonus code for your players while we were on Cake I remember but unfortunately we don't provide that for our affiliates.

And I have tried to answer those issues but not allowed to at this specific forum:

1. We do have an initial depositors tournament for all new depositing players, as soon as your players make an initial deposit they will receive a coupon in order to play this tournament.
2. Our reload tournament was canceled due to many players were registered and would not play on this freeroll.
3. And all my affiliates know that the initial, reload and casino bonus are done manually.

Your not allowed to answer questions at my forum, ok.

Anyway, this was obviously just a miscommunication between us that ocurred quite awhile ago and I don't wish to discuss it any further. The sole reason I brought it up was because making players manually request bonuses closely resembles making sub affiliates manually send you there referer's information and you guys do both, which is unecassary to me.

Do you have any input on the discrepancies with your sub affiliate programs terms and conditions.

I also believe this should not just run for 6 months it should be long life term.

Which are my thoughts and I will forward my ideas to upper management in order to see what I can do, and if any one else has any comments or ideas of how you think we should restructure we would love to hear them. We are very open to any comments.

I have never had any problems with Poker Host, but to be honest, the sub affiliate program is a joke, I certainly won't be signing up any subs under me. I will continue to advertise Poker Host on my sites, but not the sub program.

Sherry, sorry, I had posted and noticed afterwards, you had replied saying you were going to voice your opinions to upper management. I hope they change the terms, then I would feel comfortable getting subs under me.

Hi Sherry, My thoughts on the sub program are as follows:

Current affiliates should have a link to provide to potential sub affiliates
Remove the quotas, both for who can promote for subs ($200/mo rake) and the criteria for a sub to remain.
Remove the 6 month time frame

Perhaps upper mgmt can look at how other poker rooms run the sub program. Perhaps they could work with Affiliate Guard Dog on coming up with an affiliate friendly (and PokerHost friendly) set of terms and conditions.

Sherry I am going to have to agree with the other members about the sub affiliates program too. It needs to be sorted and soon. That said I have been with Poker Host since pre microgaming firstly with Jose and now you and have always been treated fantastically by you both everytime ive needed you. The one other thing that has been consistent is the lack of support by upper management to deal with situations you or Jose have voiced to them on behalf of players and/or affiliates. You and Jose should hold a mutiny or an inhouse take over.
