Lightbulb Syntryx Data Now Available to GPWA Members

I'm pleased to announce that we have partnered with Syntryx to provide some very interesting information to GPWA members. Syntryx provides data about websites to those involved in affiliate marketing, and many iGaming affiliate programs use information from Syntryx to find affiliates with which to work.

GPWA members can now see much of the information Syntryx makes available to affiliate programs about their sites. I think the information is very interesting, and provides a lot of metrics about how your sites look to others. And, of course, understanding that information might lead to insights about how you could improve your websites too.

To support access to this information, under the "My Account" section of the GPWA top navigation bar we have added a new item labeled "My Portal Sites" that is available to you when you are logged into the GPWA website.

The websites we currently have associated with you will be listed there. For each of them you have the ability to click a "Show Syntryx Stats" button. And if you have a site that is not listed, just click the link at the top of the page to e-mail us a list of any missing sites. Once we add them you will be able to view their Syntryx stats.

James Traynor (gpwa member James@Syntryx) will be available to answer questions you might have looking at the information provided. And he is very interested in feedback from our members about the service they provide.

    Awesome Michael -

After the sessions in Las Vegas I was somewhat interested in checking what info Syntryx is giving out - but not willing to pay out a huge amount to see what data they have!

Excuse my ignorance Michael but have no idea what Syntryx or twitter is. I have fallen a wee bit behind with the latest.

Any information would be appreciated. Keep it short if possible lol.

So true and months ago we informed you that we were parking amazinghorsebets I really hope programs don't rely on this data because it is not accurate. Maybe you should give us webmasters the option of having our sites on here or not.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Twitter is a whole separate topic, and I'm not going to try to mix that into this thread.

Syntryx is a company (and product) that provides information about websites with a special focus on information of interest to those involved in affiliate marketing. You can see information about them on their website at www.syntryx.com.

Syntryx aggregates data from a number of sources, including page scans. I believe the "force" factor (the red bar) is an overall measure of your sites earning power, according to their algorithm.

The idea is that an affiliate manager, instead of blindly sending out emails to everyone with a gaming site, can use syntryx to target offers (read: ignore the small fish) to the best sites not promoting their brand. BUT - from a webmaster's perspective, you can get a lot of data in one place.

My data isn't too far off... I suspect the data is only updated on a monthly basis or such?

I just want to be completely clear that the data provided by Syntryx to affiliate programs has nothing to do with the GPWA. What we are doing here is only letting GPWA webmasters see the data (for their own websites only) that Syntryx would provide to an affiliate program if the affiliate program queried Syntryx about that domain.

Any webmaster here could look at Alexa to see what an affiliate program would see if they looked up one of their sites on Alexa. However, normally a webmaster would have no way to see what an affiliate program would see if they looked up your site on Syntryx since it is normally a paid service.

The arrangement we have here provides a way for GPWA webmasters to see some of the the Syntryx data for their own site.

Is there any source where I can learn more about the metrics used by Syntryx? I have no idea what e.g. the Engine Score is.

Mine are way off too, I only wish I had over 50% of my traffic from the UK. Perhaps it is still compiling data. I think my time is better spent improving my sites rather than trying to figure this program out. Looks like a time waster at present time for me.

Thanks for getting this tool for us Michael, I'll check back with it some other time.

Default More on the Syntryx Drill-Down Widget

    Hi Everyone,

    James Traynor here from Syntryx.

Thanks for all your feedback on the new Syntryx Drill-Down Widget in the "My Portal Sites" section of the GPWA Members area.

The Widget shows an aggregation of data from Syntryx as well as from third-party sources such as Alexa, Quantcast, and others. See breakdowns of these info in the various mouseovers, clicks and tabs.

The audience measures many have commented on in this thread is ported from Alexa and in some cases Quantcast, so I’d expect wide margins there. Otherwise, as I always say, nobody knows true audience statistics except domain owners themselves and those they choose to share them with.

Most estimates of traffic today are based on samples of consumer surveillance data. Syntryx, however, uses a unique and seasoned search engine approach to measuring and presenting the web to marketers, merchants, agencies, publishers and more.

The Force, Links and Engines metrics (red, purple and green) are 100-point algorithms based on Syntryx data. View many of these component stats in the "Data View" tab of the widget.

When computing the "Engines" metric the algorithm measures incoming links and quality count, plus1 incoming domains count, incoming text link count and more.

The Force algorithm factors in all three metrics, plus some third-party components, including traffic estimates.

We've created a 10-page PDF with more info on the Drill-Down Widget and you can download it here:
    www.gpwa.org/docs/syntryx-widget-user-manual.pdf

If you have any specific questions about what you're looking at please feel free to email me directly at jtraynor@syntryx.com.

Thanks again to Michael and the GPWA and for everyone's feedback on the Syntryx Widget!

Michael and James, thanks for making this data available. The PDF document will help explain a lot.

One quick question for James. Is the Brand Porfolio data in the Company tab extracted from Alexa? If not can you tell me where? I need to get that kind of information removed from the source as it is no-one else's business what other sites are registered in my name. I'm not criticising Syntryx as I understand you are simply compiling data in an easy to view manner.

Default More about the Syntryx Widget

    Hi Jarvi -

Company Info is collected and cached from published sources such as Alexa and others. For a complete list of integrated 3rd party data sources see our user manual:

    https://www.gpwa.org/docs/Syntryx-Wi...ser-Manual.pdf

Syntryx Company Search looks at the aggregate company name information and shows a summary of associated websites by company name under the Company tab. The current version presents a limited review of company name aggregation which will be upgraded in our next version update.

The Widget presents a snapshot of a more detailed layer of information available to Syntryx subscribers.

We will schedule a live online Q&A and demo session for GPWA forum members in the coming week. Stay tuned for more info, and please keep the questions and feedback coming!

Thanks James, however, I did have a quick scan through the manual before asking the question and to me it wasn't clear exactly where the Brand portfolio data was coming from. It lists a few sources for the Company tab and I was after the exact place the Brand Portfolio information comes from.

Looks like I might have to get private whois for some domains and try once again to get Alexa to remove the information.

It is nice to have this for free as I am quite into stats.

However, the free SEO Toolbar from Aaron Wall does IMHO a better job, and it is free.

The important thing to remember here is that regardless of whether you feel the stats are accurate, if programs are using this information and making decisions based on it then it is important that we are aware of it. It then gives us a chance to refute the numbers with confidence when discussing traffic etc with programs.
