Default ThePOGG announces Affiliate Program Value Report 2017

ThePOGG has released their first affiliate program value report which they share some of their ratings for average player value, signup efficiency, signup to NDP efficiency and overall conversion efficiency.

Keep in mind thepogg.com doesn't work with every program so their data won't include brands that they don't recommend and they have also included a reliability score where programs with ratings of 1 or 2 have less data to be considered reliable compared to other programs.

This is their report showing which programs are converting and earning the best for them. Although it's not a complete picture for everyone, it's always worth knowing which programs convert and perform better. If more affiliates did this, perhaps we would know which programs do convert and perform the best when they all say they do.

Excellent article, thanks. I notice you don't promote Casumo, any reason for that? With regards to Trada performing so well, why do you think that is? I don't work with them, but their site seems average at best, certainly nothing unique that I picked up on. I wondered if you drew any conclusions as to their performance.

    Thumbs up

This is a brilliant article. Thanks again! This will help me to make better decisions overall regarding the many casino affiliate programs out there that have good conversions and are more profitable than others. Especially in the long haul.

I'm really glad to hear people are finding this useful - it's certainly not definitive but starts to paint an interesting picture. As we're able to add additional data to this in coming years I'm confident that this series of articles will give some very useful information for affiliates. If nothing else it gives an idea of whether a poorly performing program is just poor for you or whether there's a wider issue.

Casumo - yes there is a reason we don't work with them atm. They currently carry an affiliate term that requires the removal of ALL mention of their brand if they terminate the contract. This term explicitly extends to non-commercial content. Most programs carry a similar term, but these do not extend to non-commercial content meaning fair usage laws would allow for continued non-commercial content. Those programs that have matching terms that we still work with (GiG and L&L Europe) we have alternative arrangements in place with. We're not prepared to remove factually accurate content for any brand. Happy to remove adverts, not taking down content. To be clear though, we are in discussion with Casumo regarding this term and do hope to have a work around in place in the near future.

Trada - this is a good question. My best guess would be that this comes down to design. There's a big difference between looking flashy and appealing and being effective at actually getting users to do what you want. I wouldn't describe myself as an expert at this yet - anyone who is can demand a significant fee - but over the years we've learned lessons regarding how big a difference small changes in design can make. Keeping simple and channelling users effectively is a delicate art and can be very different from looking flashy.

Other than that, Trada are fairly strongly tracked to the UK market which is our strongest market. That could be a factor. They have consistently held our top position - perhaps the traffic clicking on this position has a stronger intent to purchase? They place a lot of focus on the player orientated communities which is another commonality with our repeat traffic. The latter I would guess reflects in player retention - we rarely get complaints about Trada and where we do it's almost universally multi-accounters (i.e. bogus). Just about every other group has a higher rate of 'CS hiccups' type complaints. Given that we've sent far more traffic to Trada than just about anyone else the lack of this type of complaint suggests to me they're doing a good job at keeping players happy by themselves.

The above is a bit waffley - I can make some educated guesses as to why they might be performing better, but I can't say with any certainty.

    Very interesting.

Trada I don't know very well, but perhaps they have just good terms for playters and not such a flashy website. The Pogg is a website that - I think - is focussing on sending players to the place where they get the best terms and (bonus) value for their money instead of sending players to the most flashy website.

    Very Very Well done indeed

I do like the honesty and approach its refreshing and admiral.

I am Glad as a program we are moving in the right direction , We have work to do but i believe in 2018 we will make big strides.

" Video Slots Affiliates are delivering notably more players per click than most other programs and combine this with a player value that’s above average. We’d want a larger data set to draw conclusions with absolute confidence but these figures are very encouraging and would lead us to believe that Video Slots Affiliates are a high value partner to work with"

I've heard a lot of good things about Video Slots from the players, but I've also heard a lot of bad things from affiliates; 5% - 7% earnings after fees which is why I have avoided them. Is this still the case?

Was player value calculated for the casino (Gross, net) or for the affiliate? There is a program I work with there that do exceptionally well and make a huge profit from net revenue then butcher the commission to give the affiliate a tiny %.. needless to say i dropped them to bottom positions and removed from all lucrative money pages and i now send those players else where

It was calculated based on the actual money received (rather than the figures reported in the account) with the exception of December's figures which were taken straight from the accounts.

I'd like to think it will help affiliates both pick partners and judge how well their sites are performing. The report certainly isn't bullet proof - what works for us may not work as well on other sites - but it's more information than I'm aware of any other affiliate publishing and simply going through the process of putting it together has taught us a lot.
