Default For those that have set up a company - what title do you use?

For those of you who have their own company (ltd company in the UK, inc in the US etc...) but little or no staff what title do you give yourselves?

Obviously you can have the title Director/CEO but if you have this on your business card and are also doing the work of someone much lower on the food chain it may devalue the company (ie: make it pretty obvious it's just you).

    Thoughts?

Typically you go with President, then Vice President, etc.

I don't think I'd use CEO unless I had a really large business, but some people like to use that title for smaller businesses.

As President I wear a lot of hats for the company atm because we're a startup, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Not sure what your concerns are on this though, perhaps explain a bit?

Managing Director for me as the majority shareholder.
Other shareholder/directors are in charge of seperate areas.

Probably just me being paranoid. I once heard of a friend of a friend who lost an import contract because everytime they called his company he answered the phone and they figured out it was just him. I guess it doesn't really matter for the gaming portal side of my company, but I'm also venturing into some mainstream sites along with some market research.

I'm in the UK so would have to go for Director - doesn't sound as cool as president!

Well, clearly just learn how to do "voices" and create some "characters" to handle your customer support, accounts receivable, etc. and you're gold baby, GOLD!

Actually, if you want to convey how absolutely massive your organization is, keep them on hold for 27 minutes (while having them listen to a message stating their wait time is only 3 minutes) and then have an automated recording tell them they can leave a message (and it brings them to a voicemail box that is full)

They will then think you are way too important to be wasting time with them, making them bend over backwards to work with you.

Probably because he forgot that the director/CEO title on his business card doesn't sound as cool as president/managing director.

If I was a gaming affilaite in the usa, I would use the term "sales" or some other lower term on my card, and nothing with an officer title...

I am the Marketing Director of our company but really my title should say Jack of All Trades. For example today the accountant is off sick ,payroll has to be done by tomorrow and I may have to wear the accountant hat and fire up Quick Books payroll and pray i know what I am doing if she is still sick tomorrow hahaha.
In Canada if you are incorporated you need to have a president /CEO on title and minimum two Directors .Just some fun facts for rest of the world

In the UK, you can call yourself what you want but technically a company is made up with at least 2 Directors and a Company Secretary (that can be one of the Directors.)

Me, if its official documents I go for Managing Director or Director. Personally, I class myself as a Webmaster, it covers pretty much everything which is pretty much what I do.
