Tool to track the thieves
Hi, just new here and I did notice there are only reports in this section, but I did not find any other forum to place this, so here's my attempt, please move it if it's the wrong forum.
Since we all want to track down content thieves, there are limits to what you can do. I f.e. do not see the server logs all that often, so if someone does hotlink to one of our images that might go unnoticed for a while. Next to that, by the time Google Image search indexed the site chances are more people start using them (resized/altered/self-hosted).
If you do create original text-content it's a bit harder to track down the copy cats. They do a quick ctrl+a/ctrl+c and in their favorite text editor search/replace my-site-name/their-site-name. This is far harder to track, but I found this website that can really help out: http://www.copyscape.com/ . I found a copyscape on my first trial about a month ago, Mr. CopyScape did not copy any images nor the exact layout (just the page placement of things), but did borrow a lot of our texts. I 'kindly requested' him to remove them and he did .. Good for me (why let him use the stuff without any credit not compensating all the hard work) but also good for Google! This is because Google values original content higher then a copy of something (one of the reasons I'd think twice before using the standard c/p texts affiliates offer). But that's somehting fit in the SEO forums .
Please note: I am aware CopyScape does offer paid services, I always used their free service and am in no way affiliated, owner etc etc ... (just letting you know, since I am fresh/new here, and this is my first post (of many, I hope)).

Copyscape is an excellent tool for finding duplicated pages and sections of text but does have one or two limitations. Does anyone know of any other good duplication finding tools?

Hi All,
If someone finds better then http://www.copyscape.com/ please post the url
We get reports once a week and cost us about $200 quarterly for about 300 pages give or take.

I use copyscape in combination with Similiar Page Checker. This tool finds the percentage of similarity between any two pages (URLs).
