Twitter is simply sharing to your followers what you're doing and what you're interested in at the moment.
It is good for publicity when it's used as a marketing tool.
I just hooked my site up with twitter... although I am still not 100% sure of the capabilities of twitter.
I haven't tested it yet, but my sports and poker bloggers posts should be popping into twitter if you want to follow there.

Ladyholdem - I'm curious what a twitter rep can do?
twitter is a great place to learn and share information and links to interesting articles, more than just .... 'joebloggs: is drinking coffee, yum' -- as one tends to do on your facebook -- but rather a place to share new finds, news, ideas and thoughts directly and indirectly with people and strangers alike. You can message people directly, refer to them in a 'shout out' box and retweet links and info as well as join groups and follow or create topics. Best used when following people with similar interests and industries.
It's useful to "tweet" about things that are new or "happening" on your blog or site, with a url directing traffic to that article or news bit, or new casino, poker room or skilled game etc... but I found that "tweeple" (people) don't just want you driving traffic to one site... you'll soon loose your followers. Keep it interesting! PS: There is a whole new lingo on Twitter, which you will discover too... have fun!

I have twitter, but only for informing people about new betting picks

Got my own account there at twitter.com/HodgeyBoy as well as work related ones that I've created to see how they fare:
bet365affiliate
bet365_casino
bet365_poker
bet465_bingo
always trying to think of innovative ways to use them that aren't just spam
At first I didn't get the point of twitter. It only allows short messages, url's must be shortened etc, but now I get it.
I joined last week, with one site. It's still for testing really, I have no idea how many hungarians actually use twitter. Will see![]()
Alright, we are now on Twitter...

Hi, I am on twitter. It is very popular social networking site and day by day is getting popularity. My most of the friends on twitter.
Twitter is a place where you can share with your friends or "followers": what you're doing right now OR what you have done. I think you should go through this blog post and video:
Origin and Evolution of Twitter

I'm now running the Stan James Twitter feed for affiliates @SJ_affiliates and I'm really pleased with how it's going.
I think it can be difficult to show positive return on your time unless you take a long view.
For example, I don't think there's much point in me constantly tweeting about player promotions to an audience of affiliates. Equally, I think if I was only going to tweet about the benefits of our programme I'd soon run out of interesting ways to say the same thing but in a different way in only 140 characters.
What I've been trying to do with our twitter feed is not 'sell' but to think about what Affiliates themselves would be interested in knowing. I have searches set up for affiliate-related keywords and themes and each day I try and look out for a few interesting links to re-tweet. They might be related to SEO tips or Social Media trends and I can always tell when I've picked a good link to re-tweet because the next day I have more new followers than average. This means that (hopefully) more potential affiliates will be exposed to any message I do send out about my own programme in the future.
I also use twitter to find out what other people are saying about my brand and seeing if there is a way that I can answer them directly.
Here is my twitter account name and is anyone getting any good results by using twitter?

The most entertaining person I have followed so far is this guy: http://twitter.com/shitmydadsays
Hilarious!
Mine is at www.twitter.com/ReneeMate
I mix between personal thoughts and promotions... Don't really use it too much...
I wonder though, and CJ you may be able to help me with this, but if I make a tweet and use the name of someone I'm following, but they are not following me, will it alert them? Will they know somehow? Or it's just like someone's tweeting about you behind your back and you got no clue?![]()

I use Twitter for my main sites
@JustArsenal
@JustChelseaNews
@JustLiverpool
You just gave me an idea to check my traffic from direct traffic from Twitter for November. It is 94 (out of 157,000) for JustArsenal. Hardly big numbers but i have TwitterTools installed so it posts directly. I also synchronise my Twitter to Facebook so that gets posted automatically, and i got 374 hits from there too.
Not a lot but they all count! And i get new followers on all three on a regular basis.
If you want to look at it from an SEO view, you do get some backlinks!
