The irony is that the odds of actually getting a GP appointment in the UK, multiplied by the odds of the patient being in the 2% who genuinely need support, multiplied by the odds of the GP actually asking the question, is exactly equal to the chance of winning a progressive jackpot on any given spin.

What a coincidence, who'd have known? Nice.

The UKGC won't be happy till bookies are paying out more than they take in. Oh and they are collecting daily fines from casinos all in the name of "protecting the players".

Yes, because doctors in the UK have nothing better to do than ask every patient about their gambling habits. When patients (rightfully) ask the reason for such questioning, how are they going to justify it? Also, how is that information going to be handled, and what will it influence? The first things that come to my mind are insurance rates, job applications, and differential treatments. This is all very screwed up.

That’s an incredible amount of snow! I have to admit, I’m a little envious—we don’t get any at all... The freezing weather feels like a fitting match for the UK’s latest round of bizarre weekly news… almost too perfect that I need a drink too.. and I dont drink

    Thanks for the news!

The ukgc are absolutely useless and it's very obvious and well known that they're just accumulating as much money as they can from people, claiming everything under the continuous fines that they hand out.

Actually, any doctor worth their salt would come to the same conclusion, so I’d expect some pushback from healthcare professionals (though I’m not overly optimistic it’ll accomplish much). Not to mention, they could always slip it in elsewhere, like when booking the appointment or during check-in with administrative staff.
