    Default Website showing traffic statistics

Can someone tell me about another website that shows the amount of traffic that a website receives besides www.alexa.com?

Google Analytics is MUCH better than Alexa - and it's free. You just sign up and insert a bit of code on the pages of your site you want to track and it allows you to query the data in as many ways as you can think of!

I assume that you're talking about OTHER peoples sites is that right Tropics?

There is also a site called Compete.com that looks at several things to estimate US traffic but it's even worse. The data is very sketchy - at least based on my own site.

To get traffic for other sites there is compete.com and quantcast.com. For your own analytics there is the ever popular Google Analytics (which I do not like to use because we already rely on Google just a bit too much) but if you have access to the server logs those contain almost all the information you need.

As mentioned, Google Analytics or the stats on your webserver. Alexa depends on the client to have the Alexa toolbar and it is VERY easy to manipulate.

I was at Affiliate Summit West, and listening to a very interesting SEO talk from Wil Reynolds and he raised the point about Google using data from Analytics, Reader, Feedburner etc.. to help shape the SERPs. It would make sense for them to do it but it is pure speculation as to if they do or not.

Google are all about providing the best sites to the users so would it be too unrealistic for them to rely upon other mediums to help bolster their algorithm?

    Hi All,

A site that may be useful is http://www.trafficestimate.com/ although I am not sure how accurate it is.
