PA and DA stand for page authority and domain authority from Mozcom. They are similar to the 'old pagerank toolbar', which is a way to measure a websites quality based on the algo by Moz.

MOZ shows my DA and PA low.. it's never updated... other SEO sites do update however I find the results skewed.. really what counts is the quality traffic you get.. this whole DA and PA thing was great for those needing a replacement for PR.. but it's inaccurate and can easily be skewed by buying some $5 fiverr special links.. Just aim for 100,000 visits at least per month then screw what all these software suites say

Good guidance I think. I'll try on Moz [dot] com.

Moz updates in 3-4 months but even when the numbers change they are not-so-accurate. I don't agree that DA can be easily pushed by some fiverr links but moz will be outdated soon. What we focus on right now is more the CF/TF rather than just the DA which takes to much time to refresh anyway. Majestic is a way better tool. Basically every spokesman in Berlin was using Majestic and hardly mentioned Moz.

As mentioned above PA means page authority which shows the overall quality of the whole domain while DA means domain authority which indicates the overall quality of single page of your website. It depends upon the number of quality backlinks, domain age, quality of your website content and many more factors.

I think you have it in the wrong order... DA is Domain authority and will show the authority whatever page you are on.. PA is scored for individual pages which can vary

Good thinking and honest reply. =)
You are quite correct, especially when we take into consideration the fact that none of the seo tools is absolutely accurate and up to date.

Majestic SEO have another version of this called - trust flow and citation flow
Ahrefs have another version called Page Rating & Domain rating

They are all similar metrics and are supposedly calculated on backlinks (plus a range other things), but yes MOZ have made their DA/PA popular because as an SEO, we were all looking for a high level scoring system when Googles PageRank was rumoured to have closed down. You could say it is a gimmick to sell their services, but it can be useful for getting a quick view on how trustworthy a site is before making big decisions.

Its a READ ONLY score - it is not linked to your search rank or Google algorithms. It is simply MOZ's way of scoring your site.
