I usually build my affiliate sites with wordpress and i wonder what people use for their sites.

HTML via Dreamweaver. I tried a site using Wordpress but was not pleased with it. Plus I found myself working up the pages in Dreamweaver and pasting into WP's WYSIWYG editor. I use Wordpress for blogging only.

In certain aspects yes, eliminating useless bloated source code and page errors. The SEO aspect I go with WEB CEO.

Joomla for the main site with a Wordpress blog in a sub directory. I use these just for content management, and templating, the pages themselves I write in HTML directly using text editors - I don't like WYSIWTF type editors. Usually I compose the html (etc., css, php) in Notepad++ these days for the syntax highlighting and a few useful plugins. I used to use Emacs in HTML mode but I can't get the Windows version of Emacs working for me properly. Then paste the HTML into the article space in the CMS/blogging platform. Small edits I do in the plain text editor version of the built in editors sometimes.

I use dreamweaver, but wordpress has been a time saver as well. You can treat it like a light content management system. It also helps many new webmasters by concentrating efforts in writing content verses learning coding.

I've been using Dreamweaver for a few years. Before that it was code in notepad. I've been thinking about moving my website over to a CMS like wordpress or joomla for a long time now, but I just don't have the time to do everything myself.

I wish there was a program that let you just open all your code and it would do everything for you.

For me, I have always been a Notepad coder - that gave me absolute control over everything, including SEO. But then again when I first started doing websites, programs like Dreamweaver simply bloated everything you did, not to mention that M$ piece of junk whose name now escapes me... haha...

I am moving to Wordpress for most things in the future, though. There's still bloat in WP but most of the time I can deal with it, and much more easily as well. Anything more than that (Joomla, Drupal et al) - are way overkill and way bloated and a massive pain in the rear to use.

Currently our dreamweaver created sites rank better but I believe that has far more to do with the amount of promotion they have recieved I am sure with the same effort we could achieve high rankings with our joomla and word press sites. They have all the right features from an SEO point of view(assuming you set them up right)

I started with Dreamweaver CS3 and am busy testing the CS5 upgrade. I also use Wordpress with specially created themes.

Nice thing about Wordpress is that new sites and new content appear to be indexed a lot quicker than my html sites. Sometimes my posts are indexed within an hour and new sites can be indexed within 24 hours.

Wordpress has a fantastic range of SEO and other plugins to help take your site to the next level. Wordpress is evolving from just a blogging software program to something more sophisticated. The latest version, WP3, has just been released and has quite a few more options than the previous version. Theme developers will start taking adavatage of these upgrades and you should see some awesome new themes being released in the near future.

Which is better? Neither, I like em both.

I used to do Dreamweaver websites as well in the past, but the updating part is just too frustrating to do on it.

I also used to have Joomla sites, but did not like the way seo needed to be implemented to it in the past and so i decided to move to wordpress where it is done really easily.

Still i find some stuff in wordpress annoying as well

I have worked on my website with FrontPage until now, but at the moment I am migrating to DreamWeaver. I am an amateur webmaster (with a full time job on the side) so this change is difficult and very time-consuming. But as I have learned to use DreamWeaver I have realized that I should have done this a lot sooner.

where did you find the WYSIWYG editor at WP? I tried using a theme that was wysiwyg but it wouldnt load for me.
