Default What program do you use for checking ranks?

    Hi Guys

I just wondered what programs everybody on here tends to use for monitoring your search engine ranks. I have been using Free Monitor for Google, by Cleverstat for quite a while, but I'm losing patience with it a bit at the moment.

Wondered what you guys tend to use, and if there were any decent alternatives really

    Cheers

i clear all my history and cookies and run ccleaner then make sure search history is disabled then check them myself in google

only really takes 5 minutes and it gives you a good idea of what is happening around you as well so you can see what is going on

I use the Rank Checker Firefox plug-in from SEOBook. Not perfect but fairly accurate when I "truth" the serps manually on Google.

IMO all of these tools ranks so badly. They show my website is on 17-18 place for a given keyword when I am getting around 20 visits a day from that keyword that is on 1-6 place (Piwik shows me one what position the site was).

The closest thing to reality so far is Webmaster tools.

PowerSuite Rank Tracker is great for keeping an eye one 4-5 competitors and your own keywords.

What's this like for sucking up server resources? Also, how reliable is it? Does it work on the 3.4.1 version of WordPress do we know? So far, I have installed it, and put some keywords in and it's saying that they are much lower than they are

    Rank Tracker through SEO Suite.

So far the best I've found.

I asked because I been using Free Monitor for Google, but it's getting bad at not always saving properly. I tried the rank reporter for WP, but it didn't seem to work for me. each time I logged in it didn't look any different and the date hadn't changed, so it appeared to not have scanned. Maybe it isn't fully compatible with the new wordpress yet.

    I use my stats...

Google is making it impossible, on purpose, to accurately check your google rankings with any kind of software.
Even checking manually is a hassle and almost impossible for more than a few keywords as you have to clear your browser's cache and cookies after every single search or google's 'new' algo will start 'adjusting' the search results based on your current search history, so you won't get the same SERP that a user would see.

Once google encoded the url query string from logged in users, it was the first step in making sure no one can check rankings... unless you use google webmaster tools and gwmt data is problematic at best.

    Google ain't your friend anymore....

Well, my only experience so far is that Google will ban my ip if I search too much with rank checkers. However I tend to just take my time more now, and make things seem a bit more natural. Otherwise I just get my ip banned, and I have to faff about resetting my router to get a new one

Checking your rankings in google is one thing that really seems to **** the googlies off real bad.

They have spent a huge amount of time and effort to stop webmasters from checking their rankings in google...

I mostly check my rank just to **** them off...

IMO checking rankings is a waste of time.
Either you convert or you don't. You can rank #1 for a thousand different keywords and not make a single penny.
Or you can rank at #2 or #3 for just one keyword and make a fortune...

If yur into making money... your time is better spent, imo.
