One question i would like to put to you all!

This concerns Twitter!

Where is the point of following 100K on Twitter, and having the same amount follow back? For me it's almost like children playing ''you follow me and i'll follow you back on instagram ''.

Is their a real value to these big accounts?, because i fail to see it.

I think we have like 2800 following, and we follow 300. I would guess 75% of them are outdated or unused accounts. 24% are casual users who you might click through once a month, while 1% click on anything and everything! Because we follow so few back i believe the quality of our account is probably better than most, but it's still crap!

When i visit those big accounts i rarely see any interaction/likes/retweets - Is their a point? or are people simply disillusioned?

Twitter DEFINITELY works !

I have approx 7 different accounts ( my biggest has 3700 followers and I follow approx 7000 )
The vast majority of my traffic comes via twitter ..
Think of it this way ..
Lets target the slots market
If you had 30 people follow you an you sent a tweet out with a nice big descriptive image of a brand new slot
your going to get a few click through to check out ore info on the slot, probably 0 sign ups
Same again with 3000 followers.. again more click through and you might get a few sign ups and a few depositors
30'000 followers ... even more clicks & more signups an deposits

I did a small test 3 days ago on my smallest twitter account 72 followers
I sent out 1 tweet..
I had 19 clicks , 4 signups and 1 depositing player
Not a bad conversion rate !!

The follow for follow thing is bullshit. People will go searching for people to follow them by following an account, then a few days unfollow because they know that most unsavvy instagram users will just follow anyone and don't have any app that tells you when someone unfollows you. That's how they get most followers.

People pay for followers. If you see someone with a HUGE following, and not much interaction? They paid for the followers.

I don't see the point in tricking someone to follow you because if they don't like what you're pushing, they will unfollow eventually. TBH I see this mostly in the fitness industry on instagram so it could be completely different on twitter. Either way it's fking annoying and I wish people who did that would get banned. I don't follow anyone unless I like what they post, but I can tell you if they unfollow me a few days later, you bet your ass I'll unfollow them because I think they're an asshole.

If it makes someone feel good to have people like and follow them, they are not my people.

And like I said, twitter could be different.. I may have to do some testing to see.

Agree - I can't imagine what a twitter feed is like with 100K people followed.
I don't use Twitter itself much at all.
I autopost new content to twitter with tools, and use Tweetdeck to follow specific phrases rather than people.

Our stats. 28,000 posts, 4000+ followers, 3 people followed.

Thanks for rubber stamping what i already thought. From what i see daily Instagram is particularly bad. My daughter follows 540 to 30,800 following her, albeit the number following goes up/down 100 to 150 per day (people hoping for follow back). I don't believe Twitter is quite has bad, and depending how much we post the click through can be 10 to 100 per day.

If one thinks of Social Media solely for purpose of gaining players (signups) then imo, your on the wrong track. That's where having a non-generic branded site, holds a major advantage. I use Social Media for branding. As a secondary to that, I'll get traffic.

Well lets put it like this, with ~10 followers I am sure that if I post something, anything at any point during the day someone or some number of someones will likely see it at some point be it through directly viewing it, retweets or likes. with 100 000 followers that probability goes up exponentially in all cases

The weird thing about our twitter is that I had it connected to our facebook page and for some reason it just stopped posting and I can't figure out how to get it back. So I will have to work on that. Thanks for the kick up the ass.

She's lifestyle and fashion, no commercial interest at the moment! In fact, she's not even 15 until next month, but she wants to be a social media marketer, so it's her way of proving to herself that she knows how to generate interest!

I feel like, in general on Instagram in particular followers act as a kind of gravity, initially you gan followers for making quality posts on a regular schedule(depending on the type of posts this is what I see on most photographers Instagram accounts) and even if most of those arent active followers(i.e. they don't like all your posts or dont even see all of them) they act as a gravity to other curious users who then also follow to see what the hype is.

Due to the transient nature of tweets on a follower's timeline, I find that twitter has nothing like the engagement levels of facebook. Sure that some of the huge twitter accounts have some joy by relentlessly pushing out sign-up messages, however even the engaged followers most probably see the messages as noise 99.9% of the time and to the non-engaged it's simply spam.

From what i've seen of my daughters account i agree with this sentiment - I suppose it's like trending, you are either in fashion or not. I guess it's also more suitable for this agegroup. Secret is clearly engaging and ''call for action'', but i've never thought suitable for gaming/betting!

Guess i feel the same, although technically it's not so much spam because you can unfollow or mute. Personally i would only post a few times a day and never direct to affiliate programs.

I guess some have more luck than others, albeit i was more interested whether these big accounts were generating much ''real'' interest.

That's a great way to start! By the time she has finished school I'm sure she will have no problem finding a role she loves. I've always thought if I left this industry I'd want to do something with social media. My dad calls me a social butterfly.

That was actually another point I wanted to make in my initial post - on instagram, one of the reasons people buy followers is because the more followers you have, the more you'll get. For some reason psychologically if someone has a lot of followers, people want to follow them.

No point having 1m followers if noone is engaging or even looking at what you're posting though.

Successful people (in all walks of life) tend to draw a following. It would seem, this is essentially the catalyst (motivation) to purchasing Social Media "Followers". The more you have, the more popular (successful?) you appear to be.

However, unlike in the real world were accolades are earned by actually doing the hard work, it seems online, anyone with deep pockets, can create the illusion that they're accomplished.

EG - How many casinos over the years have been trumped up as a BIG company, yet busted as being akin to Ma and Pa running the casino from their basement? Way too many!

I have never found Twitter to be worth a damn for online poker. Nonetheless, we "maintain" a Twitter account to get those "are they even important at such low volume" social signals.

We think Twitter is a very good source of traffic, good conversion I think.

But, follow-to-follow is just not good, you need to post good content in order to have good followers, again, its a matter of quality, not quantity.
