Why does google keeps denying my removal request?

Ok I followed all the instructions within google webmaster tools to have a site removed before requesting the removal.

Awhile later I checked back and my status states that my request for removal has been denied. So I clicked on the "learn more" link to the right and got this message: "Your request has been denied because the webmaster of the site hasn't applied the appropriate robots.txt file or meta tags to block us from indexing or archiving this page.

Please work with the webmaster of this site or select an alternate removal option from the webpage removal request tool."

I need to know what I did wrong. I did EXACTLY per the instruction by inserting this robot.txt:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

Into the html of my homepage. So what's causing this denial?

You need to have that string in your robots.txt file in the root (public_html) directory of your website. Placing the command within the html of the index page won't do it.

Just make a simple text file with notepad with what you have above, and uploaded it to your site's root directory.

I also placed the noindex tags in the html and my webmaster tool status indicates that the url has been removed. However I still see it in google when searching for that keyword. Does it usually take awhile before it get deindexed from this?

Yes it does. It may stay until you see the notice in webmaster tools that the request is complete. Perhaps a bit longer. Once the url shows up as removed it won't be long at all until it is gone from the serps.

That's the thing. It shows that it's already been removed but yet still showing in the serps.

I believe that the problem is that you had links pointing to that domain as well.

If you do a permamnent redirect to the .com it may help clear it up over time, but if you had a lot of links pointing there it might be better to build a page or 2 of new content on the site and redirect all internal pages at the .net to the home page. (of the .net)

Ok I figured how to remove them using the noindex tag. But the problem is when I type in the box field, it came out doubled, ie http:/www.domain.com/http://www.domain.com

This only seem to work when I'm removing the subpages of my site - ex. http://www.domain.com/secondpage. Then I can type that in. But if I leave the extension field after the / blank to tell it that it's the homepage, then it doesn't give me the choice to remove it with the noindex tag verification.

I have had similar problems. What I do is:

- Physically remove the file from my server;

- Remove the file from my sitemap;

- Add an entry in my robots.txt file to BLOCK that file specifically;

- Remove the file using WMT's removal tool;

There may be some lag between the actual removal in WMT and the indices being updated.

What I did now is placed the sites to 404 not found modes. Not sure if pinging the SEs will prompt them to remove them from their serps though.
