Would you join a boycott of an affiliate programme

With Skybet announcing the 6 ftd's or you only get 5% rule would you join a boycott and remove them from your sites. As a small affiliate its an easy decision for me but am interested on where others stand on this. There must be quite a few affiliates who have sent Skybet 100's of ftd's over the years but may still struggle to hit 6 ftd's a month. I have seen atleast 1 big name on this forum who has already taken them down as theses terms are just unacceptable. I have not removed them myself yet but as i only bring that programme 1 - 2 sometimes 0 ftd's per month i cant see any reason to carry on with them. Is this the start of what lies ahead in this industry especially if we don't take a stand or will they eventually learn from the success of companies like Bet365.

Any way the question is would you join a boycott or not.

I think people need to take them down NOW. Imagine if they refer a high roller but were unable to send 6 players in a month. You would be losing out on £1,000s which would be paid out no problem if you sent the player to bet365 or any of the other legit programs.

I agree, it's no good for me as a small affiliate with big ideas. I need money coming in now not when I am established and bringing in the quotas they require. I shall probably be removing them from the site at the weekend.

In this case, it was easy to take action even before I knew that it affected me. The character of a company is determined (by me) based on how reliable their word is and is measured by how they treat their customers (of all sizes). Easy removal.

I think it really depends what situation you are in, there will be loads of people who read that email and didn't even glance at it because 6 new customers a month is nothing to them and maybe some who even think that it's good as it will stop a lot of smaller affiliates promoting them therefore more chance of sign ups for the larger players. All that being said everyone started somewhere and really progs that decide to operate like this should be boycotted. Personally I really don't know what to do, I don't think I'll have any problem meeting 'the quota' but at the same time have to think back to when something like this could have ruined me and think that if we as affiliates don't stand up to this kind of thing then what chance do any of us have long term?

I guess the long and the short of it is that some will boycott and some won't, I'd say that if I carried on promoting them I'd won't a damn good deal to make up for these new t&c's but have to admit right now I'm leaning towards just washing my hands with them.

Completely agree about being a "joiner" along with the other comments so far but i do think 1 affiliate won't make much difference. But if 100 affiliates who bring in 1-2 ftd's per month to the Sky brands remove their links along with a few bigger players the numbers soon begin to stack up.

I would do it yeh. Agree totally about what's been said, i.e. quotas are really worrying if you've got a couple of really good players there but are currently struggling for FTDs for whatever reason. It just tarnishes the whole relationship - affiliates have their ups and downs in Google or whatever methods they use (e.g. groups can get banned on Facebook), it's not always within our control to be able to send a definite 6 FTDs per month to a program, particularly when that program historically is not one of your best anyway - you're just not going to prioritise it over the programs that convert and pay well.

Can anyone really be surprised with a company with the name Sky in it? Although they are only 20% Sky owned now they are tarnished with the brand, a brand that is all about changing terms to screw people over.

Yes and no.

Yes, if it's for reasonable reasons. And no, because many affiliates kept on working with programs that were heavily involved in hacker things. And they still do and they don't give a **** if players got scammed, people see their websites destroyed, etc. But than, when an affiliate program breaks a term and they're hurt in their pocket, suddenly everybody has to join the forces. That is kind of hipocrite in my eyes.

But yes, I would join a boycot of certain affiliate programs. But let's be fair and boycot than also brands like 888 (who's on TS portal), Mansion (who's on TS Portal), AffPower, etc.
