guys I have a great freebet domain with a few reviews on bookies on it. I'm currently at a point in my life where i'm out of work and I have a choice - I can get another regular job or I can really start working this website 8 hours a day, making it into a full time job. I can afford to do that for maybe four months until i'll start needing to work. During the 8 hours a day, I would solely be writing reviews, adding content, and promoting the site via social media, video, and links.

I suppose i'm just a little unsure if I can make a living out of it, and looking to see does anyone think one guy could do that? Im good at wordpress, writing, ok at photoshop, ok at video editing etc, so i can do all that stuff, but i'm just in need of a push/go-ahead from you guys who know what you're on about, who I have learned alot from over the past two years for my part time sports betting site/forum that's been more of a hobby than any real attempt at making money.

Anyway, what do you reckon? Is it doable? Sorrry if Im a bit vague. Thanks for reading

I believe that there's only one way to find out and that's through trying. You can only gain if you try, as if you don't act on it, nothing is gonna change. I'd say go with it, stay with it no matter what and just see how it goes.

If you go for it and work enough on it, it is possible to live from it. But 4 months is a short period. If you want to get your traffic from SEO, you need patience. Ranking in the search engines needs time.

yeah i can do that. I already have some accounts but it's patchy income at best. I figure though after four or five months i'll have something coming in hopefully

No. I don't think you will have built a living salary and/or wage from scratch in four months.
I'd ask the affiliates that are saying "go for it" whether they'd replaced a salary within four months. I think not.

I would suggest doing both - get a regular day job - and in the evening / weekends spend 4-6 hours each day working on the site.
However, it will be important to work on the site every day (or nearly every day) - as you are trying to simulate a full-time job.

Yes - it will be hard - you won't have much time for TV, pubs, and other timewasters ... but it's only for a year max right?
THEN YOU WILL KNOW WHETHER YOU CAN SUCCEED WITH YOUR NICHE - and will also have the backstop of regular income as well.

That is what I did in order to prove to myself that it was a viable earner, and 12 months later I ended my "regular" employment.

well the OP said he was out of work and can live for 4 months. no better time to put all his energy into his sites and have a proper pop at it. if in 4 months time it hasn't started making a living wage then he can get a "proper job" with the full knowledge that at least he had a go at it.

That is the best advice you are going to get. The truth is people still have to pay expenses and everyones situation is different. Especially taking into consideration how much work the person is putting into the site and how much they are spending on it. If a person has a family to take care of and bills, I would bo with the gooners advice, even though I am a "go for it" kind of person. Good luck with your site, you can still work on it slowly

The gambling industry is very tough and competitive and even if you try very hard you might need much more than 4 months in order to start making some money. You might be lucky enough and refer a handful of high value players in the first 4 months and you can then keep going. However, you might be unlucky and get low value or no players at all in the first 4 months... You will also need to consider that if you don't have any money to invest (i.e. paid search) and your efforts solely depend on SEO then 4 months as a maximum is probably not much time.

Having a full/part time job and working on your site at the same time until it gets to the point where it is generating a good salary for you is probably the safest option.

Specific time frames can be catchy. I started in August 2009, by reading some bs post in a forum where some guy giving out an affiliate link said he made 100 eur in 1 month and I was like wonderful easy money. Took me two full years, until I made my first good salary, hence 4 digits. Until then I was working from home as a freelancer trying to write here and there while working on the site as well.

Big role and this is very important, you gotta love what you do. I believe everyone would agree that they don't feel this as a job and some of us can sit all day researching and writing.

This business and industry is no different to any other, you will get out of it what you put in. If you sit on your backside and wait, then no nothing good will come, if you grab the bull by the horns and spend a lot of time and effort doing it then you will reap the rewards. The only downside is it can take over your life, but when it is something you enjoy and are passionate about, I don't see that as a bad thing

I agree, you have to love what you do. IMO it is too much of a risk to work on your site alone with four months living expenses. You should have 6-12 months worth of expenses put aside at all times. If you only have four and are going to use the money, it may be very stressful and it will most likely take you longer to get steady income. The smart move is to take the part time job, keep you laptop with you and purchase a mobile hot spot. This way you can work on your breaks such as going to the park on a sunny day with your laptop.

This is what I do, I hate my day job. I suck it up everyday, I start between 7-8Am and work till 11-12PM. Obviously I take breaks, but I am always on my computer every chance I get and I still have additional income. I have zero desire for what I do for a day job anymore, I used to love it a decade ago. My passions have gone in this direction but I have not just left income on the table. Sometimes you have to take a detour in life, it doesnt mean you failed or gave up. It just may take a big longer than you thought and you may have to sacrifice more. That is not a bad thing, in the long run it will give you better work ethic and you will end up making more money!

If I were you i'd try to build 1-2 main, authoritative sites & possibly build and sell smaller sites to get some cash flow going.
