    Default Bodog.com is Live

Today is an exciting day for Bodog.

On April 20th, 2009 Morris Mohawk Gaming Group (North American licensee for the Bodog brand) settled a long standing patent dispute with 1St Technology, gaining control of the Bodog.com domain. As of today we are back to business as usual at www.bodog.com and www.bodog.co.uk. We’re all very excited…this is only part of what's shaping up to be an extremely successful year for Bodog and its partners!

I wanted to start a thread to answer some questions that may arise from this community. Firstly, we are encouraging all affiliates to switch their links to bodog.com, as that’s where our site now lives. Essentially all you need to do is remove the “life” portion from any link that you have on your site; bodog.com is a complete mirror of bodoglife.com (including subdomains and deep links). For example a link such as: http://poker.bodoglife.com/welcome/AFFCODE/ simply becomes http://poker.bodog.com/welcome/AFFCODE (where AFFCODE is your personal affiliate ID). This also holds true for any of the widgets or feeds that you are using including our xml feeds, sports matchups tool, embedded casino flash games, direct poker download link etc.

With respect to banners, for those of you that use our ad-server Connextra, we will take care of the changes on our end (this should take effect on Thursday). Those of you using the banners from our Affiliate Resource site (www.bodogaffiliatelife.com), you will be able to pick up new banner code on Thursday (or simply replace “bodoglife.com” with “Bodog.com”). The affiliate resource site will not be transitioned to it’s new url (bodogaffiliate.com) until Thursday.

As with any major development project (and the fact that users have multiple browsers and individual settings) there may be some minor bugs, if you come across any, please let us know.

To celebrate the transition back to bodog.com, we will be hosting an exclusive Freeroll for partners on June 28th with over $1000 in cash and prizes. The only requirement to be eligible for prizing is to ensure that you’ve updated your site – it’s that simple. Details will be made available in a special newsletter that will be sent out on Friday.

    Cheers,
    Richard

What is the time frame we have to make this transition? I know I have hundreds of links to change. Also, will the old links be 301'd as I have blog posts over a year old that still get some hits. I do not want to lose a click due to this change. I reall yhope that you all will do all affiliates a favor and retain the old "life" url and have redirects that track for some time.

    Hey there,

Just a note... I get a domain name mismatch error when I go to the Bodog Affiliates page on Bodog.com but not when I go to the regular Bodog.com Page.

    Something to look at...
    My 2 cents!

We definitely understand that affiliates have hundreds (if not thousands) of links to update, so we currently we have a 301 redirect in place, and plan to for some time. With that said, we are recommending that all affiliates make the change to Bodog.com.

Thanks for the heads up! We're not able to reproduce the error on our end, would you be able to send a screen shot?

    thanks!

    Thanks Becky!

We have also successfully transitioned our Affiliate Resource site (bodogaffiliate.com), so all creative and resources from there have the updated information.

Also, just a heads up that we will be moving the affiliate reporting site to its new home (affiliates.bodog.com) on Monday afternoon. This will results in the site being down for about an hour.

thanks to everyone for the support! We are definitely excited to have Bodog.com as our home once again.

    Cheers,
    Richard

I am pleased to report that I bit the bullet and transitioned all links to the new/old/current domain(s). Was not as bad as I had once thought. I would like to find the person that created "find and replace". I owe that person several beers! Took most of the day but I feel better knowing I am done with the task.

I've been having the same problem for about the last 8-12 hours or so.

    Secure Connection Failed

affiliates.bodog.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for the following names:
    *.bodoglife.com , bodoglife.com

    (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

    * This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.

    * If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.

Hazo - thanks for the info. We actually didn't deploy the updated affiliates.bodog.com reporting site until today due to the issues related to the certificate that you are seeing. However, that site is now live and working, so a quick clear of your cookies/cache should resolve that (let me know if it doesn't).

As for the latest issue that PokerAddictz is experiencing, our developers are still working on it, as the clearing his cookies/cache doesn't seem to resolve that one.

Thanks again for the help on this one!

    Cheers,
    Richard
