Default Bugsy's Club closes, player funds to be moved to PokerStars

I received no notice from the affiliate program nor the Bugsys Club player support but posted on the Bugsy's Club website:

    Dear Bugsy's Club Player,

Firstly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of the Bugsy's Club Poker Room. Since Bugsy's Club was formed, our mission statement has always been that we will offer you 'The Best Poker Games in Town' and that 'We will take care of you Personally'. We are proud to say that these are goals we feel we have consistently exceeded, providing you with a great place to enjoy poker.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control with regards to banking facilities, it is with regret that we have to announce it is no longer viable for the Bugsy's Club Poker Room to continue our business operations.

They go on to say that player funds will be moved to Poker Stars.

No great loss as far as I'm concerned, they've owed me money for years and avoided my emails for as long.

I love their professional approach to this "closure".

Post a PR on the website, period! Job done!

No email to players or affiliates.

Obviously any future aff commissions are toast since Stars is CPA only.

Casino City has posted a press release from PokerStars about the deal.

ISLE OF MAN -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- PokerStars, the world's largest online poker site, has come to the rescue of over 180,000 poker players after the online poker site BugsysClub ceased trading.

BugsysClub, which launched in 2003, was created by a group of private investors. The site attracted thousands of players but unfortunately failed to gain a sufficiently large enough customer base to continue operating in such a highly competitive market.

PokerStars.com and BugsysClub have forged a deal which sees PokerStars.com taking on all BugsysClub player accounts, thus ensuring that no BugsysClub players lose their funds.

Brian Baker, CEO of BugsysClub, said: "We are saddened by the events that have lead to the closing down of the BugsysClub card room. However, we are delighted that PokerStars, the world's largest online poker site has come forward to continue taking care of our players personally."

BugsysClub players are being invited to transfer their balances to PokerStars. PokerStars will also be hosting a series of freeroll tournaments for BugsysClub players to welcome them to the PokerStars community.

Unfortunately, I think we'll see a few more sites going under in the coming months. I do hope that I at least get an email next time though.

I got an email with instructions on how to convert funds to Stars, I had a small pittance in my aff. acct so i don't know if they added it to my poker acct. I rather doubt it. Ellen, hit me up on msn and I can give you the URL to the conversion page Stars has, perhaps you can log in with your ID (Player ID) and check for $$$.

Thanks Chips, my problem is the player ID and log in details. That's why I tried contacting them for such a long time. I could not find those details and was requesting them to be sent to me, they never were, they just ignored my emails for years.

That is so sad for their affiliates and players especially those who haven't been paid yet.

I can't help but to raise an eyebrow with their first statement there and contradicted with the last.
