Default Casino-follies.com stealing Graphics and bandwidth

I found this in my error log. I disabled the link. If you want to see the site, remove the exes.
    24/Sep/2006 03:55:01 84.101.70.182 /Assets/diamond_club_slots.jpg 404
    httpxxx://www.casino-folies.com/revue-Diamond-Club-Casino-253.fr.html

I had removed cpays casinos due to the spam. I also deleted all their screenshots I had.

I looked at their page and tried right clicking where the image was supposed to be, but they had disabled right click. So I pulled up the source code. They are using screenshots from different sites so as not to use too much bandwidth from any one site.

Depending on the piece of artwork stolen, I have at times changed the art to something "less than nice" and allowed the person to continue to pull the art....

lol I've done that before too, actually very funny, especially when you do an image up that reads something like 'I'm a low life scum bag who steals other webmasters content, just as I've done here'...

Some clowns don't realise you've done it for weeks...lol

    kidd75219,

The other alternative is to stop people hotlinking images from other IP's & URL's.

If your using cpanel it's easy, I think this can also be acheived by htaccess.

You can setup which URL's are allowed access and bar the rest.

This sort of stuff is starting to get really bad.

I'm thinking that any images I do up, I'm going to start placing faint watermarks on them.

    Hi all,

I'm the co-owner of casino-folies and i'm sorry for this problem ... i did not intend to steal bandwith from affiliates, i'm not a professional webmaster and i have a simplified admin, we use our own server and all is working alright.

On the other hand , it is true i have used some screenshots via google images - simply as i'm not the admin Most of them are resized and hosted on my server, others were used as they are now and i'm sorry they were used this way. I'm really sorry if i have caused some harm

This will be corrected on the 15th october as my associate is on holiday and he makes all these changes... Again i'm honestly really sorry for the mistake i have made, the aim was not to harm any affiliates at all.

    Please accept my true apologies.

    Best regards,

Yes, I agree. MatthewT's post was a bit hard to follow since it was a reply to a post at the beginning of the thread and didn't put the material in quotes.

At first I thought MatthewT's post was just off-topic for this thread, but it looks like he was asking Kidd to follow-up on his comment in the first post of the thread:

Haha, hopefully that was the hard to follow bit, or else I think I may just have contributed to even more confusion.

Anyone know how to mnage this with htaccess? I mean to remove the hotlinking possibility?

A good question. I would love to explain this topic in great detail but feel it would compromise my own security features. Instead I offer two good resources as follows:

    xxx.tomrafteryit.net/using-htaccess-to-minimise-comment-and-referrer-spam/

    xxx.javascriptkit.com/howto/htaccess14.shtml

I have not posted on these sites for a while but I hope it may help. Give the whole site a good read. Taking the time to learn will pay off big time.

Do not access these sites through this forum please.
