We recently setup a standalone page for one of our services as a trial, hoping for improved conversion rates compared to our main site.
However from 500 clicks we've only seen a conversion rate just below 2% and were really hoping to achieve much closer to 5%

Any feedback would be really appreciated - good or bad, as we're not quite sure what we've done right or wrong.

Hi,
An auto-play video that shows no visible controls, and a pop-up upon leaving are both big negatives in my opinion. I think you should invite people to watch the video, and let them leave in peace if they are not interested.

I agree with Gambling Joe and thebookiesoffers - having a video start playing without controls is not very favourable to most visitors. With the large amount amount of ads that autoplay videos online (which most people close and dismiss instantly), you might be setting up for a negative first impression among your visitors and they may not stick around to learn more. Maybe run a trial and see what kind of results you get when you let people start the video themselves?

What type of visitors are you attracting?

Complete novices, 'know a bit about sportsbetting' types, or clued up punters?

I think you might need to tailor the message/page to those 3 different types.

For example, I'm (or I think I am!) a clued up punter, so I understood everything that was going on from the start.

But a novice might not really get, for example, even what an ante-post bet is...and why it might offer good returns with consistent positive selections.


Looking at it from an experienced punter perspective.....The video didn't worry me, but I glazed over within 30 seconds or so and scanned elsewhere, stopped actively listening. Note 'scanned'. Maybe short bullet points high up would help. If your results are as good as you say then it might help to lay some out. To me, everything else seemed to require too much interpretation and effort. Graphs I wouldn't even begin to want to spend time interpreting.

We're going to re-design the page, and certainly lose the video.

It's hard sometimes to critically review your own page that you've loving put time into so we'll take on board your feedback and come back with something (hopefully) bigger and stronger.

One last point. Actually I was very close to signing up and giving it a chance. So what stopped me? (still might btw)

I can't see anything about how you arrive at selections. Do you have resident experts in each sport. If so, suggest make a point of it.

If you do click on the results link, it does look like a lot of losing bets. Now an experienced punter will know that no one can get winners all the time, or often even over 30% of the time. No matter how good they are. So the 30% strike rate may look good enough, balanced against winning bet odds. But I think a novice wouldn't get that, and you may need to spell it out (but succinctly, probably with bullet points).

2. Pop-up: never been convinced by an exit pop up. Even though i believe it can have value, the cheap design it often has the too aggressive text make me wanna go away. If i'm leaving, it's probably because i was not convinced. What can you do to convince me? Identify the reason why people are leaving. Tough i know...

Design is a bit cold also. Content too crowded. I'd like to see a page which makes it easy for me to understand via bullet points what i can expect.
on't give feedback on the content as i'm far from being an expert on the topic but i agree with previous comment asking what is your target. If it's me, i leave right away as i'm lost

I think you should have a menu at the top or left... and display information on mutliple pages.

Information on the page is not easily scannable.

And i didn't like the exit popup.

this is just my opinion but I would say that your website does not inspire trust, which is what you want if you are gonna ask for people to send you money, a big part has to do with presentation

if you have the money, i would say hire a professional to do your site. its a simple one so it shouldnt be expensive

or a cheaper solution would be, buy a nice template for 50$

Just to clarify, the page was totally changed at the end of January from what was originally posted.
So any comments pre-17th Jan are relevant to the original and totally different page.
It seems that our old thread has been resurrected - thanks for the additional comments and feedback.

Interesting re the payment details though as that's separate from our site and managed through Clickbank

Thanks for the question, we as a business and not selling our picks, we are effectively a marketing company for tipsters. They provide their selections and we manage their services - customer service, marketing, etc.

But I do not understand why tipsters sell their tips if they are actually profitable in the long term.

So i'm skeptical.

I had a quick look. I could be wrong but I get the impression that the site is more of a data harvester than an actual site for users to get information.

One note - get rid of the javascript. I could not for the life of me close that page. I had to close the entire browser. There is no option to just close the pop, only click OK.

This particular site was a one-off, standalone product from our main site - mainly as an experiment to test conversions.

I would expect possibly because they have been limited by most bookies and struggle to place bets themselves so by selling their advice to others it is a way for them to still earn from their skills/knowledge.
