Facebook Facelift

no really sure I like the new facebook page layout rolling out on the 30th of March.

I've had it since Christmas.

I don't like that you can't mass hide stuff from your past. I had to go through and manually hide everything that I didn't want to be shown. Very annoying.

they are going to a timeline set up which im not too pleased about. i dont like the way you have to read everything in a sort of zig-zag way across the screen. im holding out on the timeline thing for my personal page until it gets forced on me

I see the point in having a timeline for personal accounts, but not for a business account. It's unneccesary.

I can't see the point of timeline to be honest. I doubt I'll use facebook much once it gets rolled out, but I have a little feeling that they will eventually go back to how it is now

can you remember the last major change that facebook did when they decided what content we wanted to read? that slowly got taken out and it went back to normal and with the amount of users not wanting timeline it will be all about giving the users what they want, especially as there are shareholders now to keep happy as well

I think the new layout is ok but the new admin area is annoying and too huge. The feature of moving posts on the timeline is quite interesting but there's probably no use for that with business acoounts.

Overall smart move by FB to get some more historical data of users but I have mixed feelings. Let's see if one gets used to it. For now very rite ... resistance is futile

Bobler - I also think its strange that you can move stuff.. I would have thought the timeline was so you could see when stuff happens. Changing it around is like going back in time and changing stuff. Just shouldn't be done!

I deleted everything off my timeline and it took aaaaaages!

yup Renee, I agree but it's smart from FBs point of view to find out what people did before they became FB members. Gotta admit that. Now you can make a post about your life and move it to a point before you even signed up. FB would never find out about that kinda stuff otherwise.

That's basically their goal with the new layout and could give them another push before they get noted at the stock market because I think people will likely make use of that and offer FB some more info (they can sell).

I still think there should be another solution for business accounts. I see no improvement there unfortunately.

I've just updated my page to the new layout and I quite like it. Not perfect yet, but still an improvement imho.

There's something very cool about the timeline but I wish they had given us a low-fi version of it.

They want to try and give the whole of facebook the same feel, we where in the middle of getting our fanpage updated and then had to get the company to start it all over again when they brought the timeline in

I used to love the timeline, but since we've started working on improving our Facebook page to be tailored (http://www.facebook.com/castlecasino... working progress) its grown on me. The zig-zag stuff is still annoying though!
