Default hate that quantity gets rewarded here

i just hate to see that people are just going to post nonsense posts (like these, lol) to get their post count up.
you probably know who i'm talking about, the people responding to 5 or 10 different posts in a row posting close to zero value or asking things like they been living under a rock their whole lives (well, maybe they did).

it's probably not a democracy, but i would vote for likes received on a post rather than rewarding spammers!
    feel free to like

But is not this phenomena of today? Just to keep posting things with zero value, to get a higher social score... to feel less lonely and farther from death?

I guess so, and every day is a new day for him (or her, i don't discriminate) to start over again.

In the past it was beneficial to buy links. Nowadays it's easier or at least more productive to just create a good site and good content.
i hope that one day those forum spammers realize that it's easier to participate in a normal conversation rather than spamming it.

I agree but I also thought they were changing how the posts are weighted so you don't just get recognition for sheer quantity of posts? A while back Michael said:

"This thread covers a number of topics, but one of them is the process for how we determine who to recognize as top contributors to the forum each month.

Currently we use a rather simplistic formula that is based on the number of posts made and the total length of all posts. The current approach does not take into account newly written content versus quotes of previous posts with small additions. Nor does it take into account the recognition by other members of the value of a post to them in the form of a thanks.

We will take a look at how to improve the process we currently use to recognize top contributors to the forum. Although this will probably take a little bit of time, since right now are engineering staff is backlogged with projects so is not immediately available until sometime after the ICE show.

    Michael"

Thanks, i wasn't aware of that. it's good to see that they are actively trying to take steps on improving this.

i would also not mind to be able to ignore users so that you will no longer see new posts from them.

There is a feature for you not to see the annoying posts. In your account panel there is an ignore option

i must be getting to old for this hahaha, i was not aware of that either!

(for anybody searching for this feature, go to 'my account', in the menu on the left, under 'my settings', click on 'edit inorelist' to add users)

i have just added a couple of users, but when i click on forums/today's posts, i still see that the last post has been made by ignored users on some of the threads.
so, it does not really add value in the current way this functionality works, because now i do see that there has been an update on certain threads, but i still would need to open them to see if there are any responses besides from ones on my ignore list.
this functionality only hides the actual post on the page itself within the thread.

While you are correct that was said - a recent monthly winner proved that any potential changes had little effect.

Not sure the way people access the forum themshelves however I use the Tapatalk app.

This means you see the threads in order of the most recent post. Everytime I take a look you will often see a person who has posted 4/5 times within a few minutes all with 1 word or 1 sentence responses.

The amount of accounts like this has shot up over the last few months, which makes it difficult to find a good thread to read if you have 5 minutes free.

I agree something needs to change, can't help to think these accounts are all connected in some way.

Yeh any good forum relies on good moderation and controlling of the spammers/nonsense posters. Hence why I don't really bother with GPWA anymore, they lost me a while back in terms of caring what goes on.

Exactly! Look at PAL for an example of what happens to a great community when the operators no longer care about it. GPWA is quickly headed down the path of only looking active because the least valuable contributors keep it going. News flash - those are also the lowest value contributors to your sponsors!

notice how all these top posters forget to add their 2 cents here? most of the answers are lies or quite a few come from non casino related threads.. it's just a real spam board now where real value has been lowered, a lot of the more experienced members just gave up posting now its full of spammy one page cookie cutter sites looking for 2014 threads saying yes thats right i agree etc.. or copy and pasting email address from contact sections.. I suppose this is how all good forums sink in the end..

They become haunts for spammy, useless and wrong info..

I think they hired Randy for a while to keep things going, but at that moment most people already left.

wrt lowest value contributors, totally agree. that was exactly my point of creating this thread: reward spammers, annoy real people.
same error as google made by rewarding links, took them years to have their algo in order.
if there are rewards, there will always be methods to abuse it.

They become haunts for spammy, useless and wrong info..

Forums have had their best days, I think. To generalize a bit. Nowadays people want their information quickly. A lot of people don't even want to spend a minute to read something, leave alone spending more minutes to share some information.

Also, some "initiatives" here for some joint action failed completely. Sponsors usually do not even react and just are active when they have some event to spam.

Plus, more and more markets are getting regulated. That means super-affiliates, who are not going to hire someone to post on a forum but also need more specific information as local rules can be quite typical and complex. People perhaps to discuss it perhaps with people in the same boat, facing the same problems, etc.

I think this forum can be valuable for more people just if it has interesting information, like information about fees that programs are deducting, info about programs paying late or not paying, terms you have to be careful for, etc.

It makes no sense to blame one person for all this. Every SEO or marketing topic is full of crap of spammers. Even in my inbox i got crap from people wanting to pay me to spam their crappy link in my signature, people wanting to sell spammy links, programs that want a meeting at events, etc.
