With more thought on the matter, I really super agree with what has been said here.

^^ Oh yeah, and then, try to have a conversation with yourself if at all possible.

It seems, this forum, these days, will let slide obvious plagiarisms (even when proven it's scraped content).

Worse, opting instead to chastise members who call this 'spade' a "spade".

It's not my forum, I don't make the rules. But some food for thought to those who wave the stick... Old timers like myself and others have a wealth of information. While I doubt many, if any will give away their top-secrets, I pretty sure, they, like myself, would be happy to help give something back. However, doing so with this current culture, where dribble is posted day in day out, and nothing is done to curb this obvious spamming, then I don't see anyone is going to pony up and be an active contributor of quality information or help, when this dribble is given carte blanche.

@DanHorvat - thanks for reminding me

Agree with Dave 100%, I am a newbie compared to most members of the forum. I came to this forum As I was relative fresh to the industry in comparison to other members.

When I first joined it would be easy to find countless threads that I would find useful and informative that I could spend time reading and learning from.

I use to read posts from a lot of people that you don't see contributing anymore and the ones that do seem to be far less active.

In terms of the spamming posts, I think the best one I seen was when someone commented saying 'I hope you enjoy the conference, have great time. Wish I could attend'

The original thread was almost 10 years old.

It's not all that long ago...some will remember it.
    https://www.gpwa.org/forum/should-we...wa-243356.html (disaster thread)

We need a solution for this....should we vote for 1-2 neutral and active moderators ?
I do not know what the gpwa staff thinks about my proposal...but there is no other solution.
    We need mods...

    Regards

I won't add much. I do visit, read and post less at gpwa now because of the crapload of spam from a few individuals. You know who you are.

I've also seen Dave's justified criticisms disappear soon after posting about the issue.

Going back more than ten years, there was a 'secret' gambling forum - only maybe 20 members, started by a member who doesn't post here any longer. It was invite only and there was a voting process. It's time for a new one.

Loooong gone. It developed into quite a few members and I think 'word got out' about its existence, inevitably - although I think it was login protected. Memories are hazy and I long ago lost touch with the room's founder (not sure he's still in the industry). But it was a simple straightforward forum and (if memory serves, less-used) chatroom for a small number of people who wanted to share real knowledge. You had to be invited by a current member after approval from existing members (I forget the details) and I can't remember if it went with majority rule or anyone could veto membership. As I say, it's going back prolly 15 years. At least a few gpwa members will have been members and probably recall it.

I hesitate to post this but since Fiction brought it up, I did create a group on facebook recently for this exact purpose - to have somewhere to discuss industry issues without the interference of sponsorship.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/718901878313474/ <---- if interested, but it's off to a slow start without many members. I have nothing to gain from the group except that I miss having an active community to be a part of, and I'd welcome veteran help in moderating and administrating it. Maybe it will go, maybe it won't - just thought I'd give it a try. I was a moderator at PAL for years so I do have some experience weeding out garbage.

I think that vtyunby65 and a couple of other accounts here are chatbots. A test case of Michael Corfman and co to (in the end) replace all humans with artificial intelligence bots. GPWA can finally become a forum with the highest quality possible so they can ask sponsors the highest fees. Let's be honest, it's a learning machine; their comments are each day getting better and better. It's only a matter of time before we (humans) are posting only 'spam' compared to the chatbots top quality comments. Even Google is using RankBrain and surpassing their co-workers. We humans are no longer needed, the expiration date is insight. The end is near. Enjoy it as long as you can.

I've joined the group. I keep Facebook for business pages only now, I don't care what someone has had for their tea or if their kid hasn't slept etc.

Multiple posts a minute apart when noticed will get merged or possibly deleted.

As for stolen content, we take a very strong stance against that, and most here (especially the old timers know that).

As for calling out members publicly, everyone here (especially the old timers) should know that attempts to moderate off topic posts publicly by making more posts in a thread is also off topic. We follow up with posts reports when they are made, although there may be times when moderators do not agree with the posts report's opinion, so it is never a case of not viewing them or considering the report themselves.

As for the process of scoring posts, their count, quality, thanks etc, there are a number of algo's that come into play, which has been discussed in a previous thread, but clarification of that algo and how it is implemented should be answered by someone else.

The private section is not visible to sponsor programs. We can create additional invite only rooms to ensure privacy. If you are interested in that please let me know.

As far as the monthly recognition, we have made adjustments to the updated formula plus I have been manually adjusting the rankings based on overall content since the algorithm can't account for everything. Based on this feedback, I can adjust further. I will review the new report at the end of the month.

Isn't a simple solution for owners/admin/moderators to message the spamming accounts and tell them to stop and if they don't shut them down?

We can all spot them a mile off and can see they are just posting for their own benefit and have no intention of contributing to the forum.

    Ditto...

I recall many years ago, a couple of private members, including myself (lets not open that can of worms to why I'm no longer a private member)... However, we wanted to commence a Dedicated GPWA Forum, for affiliates who were making 6 figures a year and above. It was a valid request, but got stomped on because we were seen to be waiting an elitist group.

Instead, and in actually fact, we wanted to share and discuss topics valid to our affiliate experience. No point having input from Newbies. Just like I wouldn't join a Super Affiliate Forum. Anyway, and reiterating, that was squashed before it even started.

In so far as the growing daily "spam" here... While the link juice maybe next to ZERO, these "spam" posts are ranking on 1'st page of Google. Clearly there's benefit and a payoff for conducting such dubious actions.

Spend some time on Google and see what else is being posted across the net by these GPWA spammers, and maybe you too we see these "dribble posts" are nothing more than a formulated plan to gain links. Nothing more, than less. The almost angelic demeanor, is just a con, a front!

Who saw you as an elitist group? And why is it relevant if it was not GPWA itself?
This is about money, so indeed, money is the most relevant factor.

I thought that was the case...

However, I've reported posts in the last month or so, clearly copied and pasted from elsewhere (a couple minutes on Google proves that). Yet, no action was taken. And day after day this same person continues to copy and paste plagiarized content.

I shouldn't have to refresh anyone's memory... However, in this case, it seems I'm left with no choice.

The member is question was busted posting copied and pasted payments from AGD, claiming they were their payments received.

AGD forum placed this person on a LTD account. That means, no sig links, no links in their profile, no adding URL's to posts etc., etc.

Stranger than fiction, when these measures were introduced, the person in question, has stopped spamming threads at AGD.

    It's not rocket science...
